Objective

The 12th annual Richmond International Film Festival (RIFF) is a competitive festival that accepts feature and short screenplays, teleplays, and screens more than 120 international cutting edge film premiers making it one of the Mid-Atlantic's largest international competitive festivals. RIFF provides six days of industry panels, Q&As, industry mixers, live music performances, the FLOW Creative & Pitch Conference, and entertainment mixers that bring the spirit of Hollywood to beautiful Richmond, Virginia at the Bowtie Criterion/Movieland and the historic Byrd Theatre. In 2011, USA Today called the 1,300-seat theatre, "One of the top 10 places to still see a movie in splendor in the United States."

An inclusive and spirited festival designed to honor cutting edge filmmakers and writers; RIFF welcomes produced films and screenplays of all genres and niches, feature and short screenplays plus teleplays. Show More

Awards

Grand Jury Winners (Screenplays) - This is awarded to the overall best feature screenplay and best short screenplay. The best feature script receives $500 cash and the best short screenplay receives $250 cash and each receives a special recognition trophy at the annual red carpet awards. Plus screenplay genre awards.
