The MiX competition rewards current projects and brings talented writers and filmmakers together to collaborate on the production of future high quality projects. We are also one of the few that provides potential production opportunities for our top winners. All entrants receive the judging scorecard and a few paragraphs of notes, included in the price of the entry.
The MiX accepts short film scripts and produced shorts of all genres and niches. Additionally, we place a special emphasis on pairing up talent that might not otherwise have access to one another, as well as highlight other unique categories that focus on using film as a powerful medium for social change.
We also feature a bonus corporate short film category, which is FREE for all writers and directors if they have entered at least one other project into a main category by the corporate contest deadline. These writers and directors will have only two weeks to complete a script and/or director's vision & storyboard for our corporate sponsor. One winning writer and director will be awarded a cash prize and get co-credit for their work. See the rules and guidelines for further details.
The MiX will be a catalyst for producing a new wave of forward thinking projects for 2012 that help transcend traditional creative norms, so we look forward to working with each of you in our inaugural year.

Grand Prize Winners - One Writer & One Director will be hired to co-write or co-direct a MiX short film or documentary production (TBA) for a prize of $750 each or they may use the prize money towards a production of their own. In addition, these winners will receive: Sony Vegas Pro Software (valued at $600), SellaScript Promotional Package, and a 1 Year Preferred Membership to the Media Industry Xchange (valued at $175)
Corporate Award Winners - One Writer & One Director This is a bonus category that all entrants are eligible to enter for free as long as they've entered a project in at least one other main category. Our corporate partner will give a call to action for a specific short film project, and entrants will have up to 2 weeks to submit their entry. See the MiX website for details. Winners will be awarded $250 cash prize each, and get co-credit for their work. In addition, these winners will receive: Sony Vegas Pro (valued at $600) & a 1 Year Preferred Membership to the Media Industry Xchange (valued at $175)
Best of Fest Award - Given to the Best Narrative, Best Animation, Best Documentary, Best Experimental, and Best Other (Music, New Media, Webisode, Commercial, etc.). Outside of industry promotion, these winners will receive: Special Recognition Trophy and a 1 Year Preferred Membership to the Media Industry Xchange.
Outstanding Merit Awards - Three awards will be given to the most inspiring writer or filmmaker who best utilizes film as a medium to create awareness, social change, or bring a unique perspective to any one topic. See the MiX website for full description. These winners will receive: Special Recognition Trophy, Sony Vegas Movie Studio, and a 1 Year Preferred Membership to the Media Industry.
Top 20 Finalists - The top runner up writers and filmmakers will receive the Preferred Listing status in The MiX directory for a period of one year (valued at $175). Like our top winners, these writers and filmmakers will get industry promotion at the close of the competition.
General Promotion for All Entrants - All entrants that do no make it as a winner or top 20 finalist will receive promotion through the MiX Directory as a Preferred Listing for six months (valued at $95)

The Moving Image Xchange (The MIX) short film awards has launched a production deal with corporate partner, Strive Tennis Academy, which will bring contest entrants the chance to compete for a winning spot as writer or director of a new short film for the leading national tennis academy.
