Contest News

9th Annual International Film Festival (IFFF)

APRIL 25-May 1, 2003

Edwards Valencia Stadium 12, Town Center Drive, Valencia, California

The Festival Mission:

IFFF believes the family unit is the most central and important element in life's storytelling process. It defines the family as a group of people that are connected to and significantly care for one another. As a community based organization, IFFF promotes and encourages the creation and sharing of family film product through professional and children's hands-on workshops, seminars, forums and engaging post-film discussions. IFFF strives to provide quality services and opportunities for the benefit of film professionals and the general public.

The Festival Event:

IFFF will screen over 55 films from over 15 countries dedicated to this year's artistic theme, ''Diversity&Challenging the Imagination.'' Located at the beautiful Edwards Valencia Stadium 12 in the Valencia Town Center, the 2003 IFFF offers hands-on workshops for kids and professionals alike, seminars, screenings, galas and a host of celebrity appearances. The festival screens Shorts, Animation, Feature and Documentary films and highlights the Finalists in the screenplay competition with the IFFF

Screenwriters Showcase:

Selected scenes from 8 screenplay finalists in the adult and What IFFF? Kids categories will be read by professional actors from the Deke Anderson Next Level Actors Studio at the Screenwriters Showcase on April 30, 8:00pm.

This year, IFFF is proud to add Regal Entertainment Group as its ''Exhibiting Partner'' and screening venue sponsor of two theatres at the state of the art Edwards Valencia Stadium 12 in the Valencia Town Center. Regal Entertainment Group also generously contributes other important operational space for festival operations and important networking sessions between film professionals and the general public.

During the festival, IFFF features a Film ''Fam'' Tour (familiarization tour) for film producers, directors, writers and location scouts that highlights the varied filming locations and opportunities within the Santa Clarita Valley.

Beginning a tradition, 2003 marks the second year that selected IFFF film finalists and winners will also be screened at the 2nd Annual GSIFFF (Garden State International Family Film Festival). Held at the Algonquin Theater in Manasquan, New Jersey on the picturesque New Jersey Shore, IFFF provides selected filmmakers an opportunity to reach audiences from ''coast to coast,'' making IFFF the first bi-coastal film festival in the country!

The IFFF has called Valencia its home since 1994. Valencia, a forward thinking community dedicated to family life is located in the stunning Santa Clarita Valley on the northern perimeter of Los Angeles with a rapidly growing population of nearly 160,000 (4th largest city in Los Angeles County).

The Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) is home to Six Flags — California and the largest industrial park in the Southern California area. With a rich tradition in the film industry, it has served as the backdrop to countless films since William S. Hart founded his studio in this valley in the 20th century.
