PAGE has posted the semifinal top 25 in each category. My "Ghost Train" drops out, but congrats to those who continue on.

Hay, I'm in! ROCHESTER was dropped but CALLIOPE advanced. Woohoo!

Author: Irin Evers Posted: 08/01/09 04:00 PM

Terry - we'll meet again (with Jean Hunter) in the Family category. This time I've trained and am ready for you!

(Congrats!)

Author: Derrick Ingram Posted: 08/01/09 04:44 PM

I'm a rookie at this stuff, but I am happy to be in such good company with my fellow MByters. Congrats to you all.

Author: Terry Frazier Posted: 08/01/09 04:55 PM

Congratulations, Derrick, for MASTER OF THE REALM: THE LAST MASTER. Tell us about this action script.

Author: Terry Frazier Posted: 08/01/09 05:01 PM

Yeah, Irin, that's just like Serena and the Junior Detectives to gang up on a little blind orphan girl! I know you and Jean would steal little Callie's white cane if you could but I have news for you -- she doesn't have one! But she does have a bad attitude and she's ready to fight even though you guys have beat up on her several times in the past. Watch your shins, you mean ole bullies!

Still alive with two of mine. Zombie script joined the ranks of the fully dead.

Man.... next cut is the big one! Top ten lets you update the draft. And I'm 10 drafts down the road on both of those scripts.

Good luck to all MBers!

Author: Jage Halperin Posted: 08/01/09 05:39 PM

I'm in there, as well. Sci-Fi!

Author: Patrick Sweeney Posted: 08/01/09 05:40 PM

Yes, I was hoping to get the chance to update 'Ghost Train' - the draft I'm working on now will be much, much stronger. Oh, well. Suppose I can always enter it again next year, though by then I'll have another new screenplay or two, too.

Congrats to Jean, Terry, Jage, Irin, and all the MovieByters!

Actually Terry, the script is a cross between two of my favorite stories. "Knights of the Roundtable and Star Wars. Basically there is an ancient land, Governed by a powerful King and his Imperial Guard, which are so powerful they have never been defeated. The General holds an ancient sword made of gold, thus making him the "Master of The Sword". Ultimately, the King's evil brother along with one of the Guard betray them all and overthrow the King, killing most. There are 3 survivors, the second highest officer who now has the sword becomes "The Last Master", the Princess and her infant son who will eventually become "Master of the Realm". This is the first in a Trilogy.

Congratulations everyone. Woo-hoo.

Author: Janet Hogate Posted: 08/01/09 06:53 PM

Congrats Jean, Irin, Terry, Derrick, Stephen, Jage, Tom Bragg and any other MB's I missed. Goodluck, EVERYONE, in the next round.

Author: Ron Brassfield Posted: 08/01/09 09:59 PM

Yes, you guys are awesome, and I'll give a shout-out to Mark Familton, whom I "met" via these boards, for his first script, "Dark Matter." I know Mark knocked himself out re-writing his "Descent" script (and finally re-titling it, as well) under the tutelage, goading, Zen-lure, or whatever it was, of Blake Snyder, and it has led to this semi-finalist placement for him.

Author: Irin Evers Posted: 08/01/09 10:52 PM

Terry - Serena's Thunder is actually a horse, so Calliope better watch it. That horse will trample my Junior Detectives!

Author: Bobbette Findley Posted: 08/01/09 10:56 PM

Congrats to all!!! Ya'll are great insipration.

Author: Stephen Hoover Posted: 08/01/09 11:17 PM

Author: John Arends Posted: 08/01/09 11:27 PM

Well done, one and all! Best of luck in the next round.

Author: Tom Bragg Posted: 08/01/09 11:37 PM

Thank you Jean. Good luck to you and everyone else!

Author: Stephen Hoover Posted: 08/01/09 11:43 PM

Good luck to everyone! MBers represent!

Man, I looked at withoutabox. I blew like two grand on contests! Got $500 back so far (Big Apple). Need some more return on investment.

ScriptSavvy btw gives great notes. Worth a shot there just to get the feedback.

Hey People. New here.

I'm in with Shotgun Cinderella in action genre.

And at this point I'd normally be the one chatising someone for using their first post for self-promotion and contest announcements.

..... but this is a contest announcement messageboard. Maybe if I just sit in the corner in silence.

And in case any of you are now thinking 'Jeez who's this (insert obscene expletive) who just turned up on the boards...

...Well you can blame Mr. Hoover (and I don't mean the cross-dressing FBI headcase). I didn't even know this place existed until he mentioned in on DD.

No you've just got to hope I haven't brought some vile disease with me (there's a lot of them about) or worse still some luck-void curse. As soon as I turn up, no-one quarterfinals ever again!

Anyway this is essentially a vast deluge of verbal sewage to announce myself. We all know this business is self-Promotion, Self-promotion, Self-pr.... well you get the idea.

Congrats to everyone who made the Semis and a special shout out to Tom and Derrick who are in my category :)

Good luck to everyone on the all important (resubmission) finalist cut.

.......ohh it does occur to me, and has not escaped my notice, that the name on MB does not match the name on the SF list. I could of course be some nutcase lying through my teeth, sponging off someone elses success.....or I could be the kind of (Insert brand new expletive) who, wracked with paranoia at a brand new site, decided stupidly to make up a new name in that useless way where it's practically my real name anyway.

I did that once in my student days to avoid paying the gas bill...... but that's another story. Funnily enough my Page entry for next year. The story of a man and his gas bill..... It's high-concept.

It's very late where I am. You may be able to tell.

Author: Stephen Hoover Posted: 08/02/09 12:53 AM

"Cross-dressing headcase?" How dare you say that about my grandfather! Just for that we're opening a new file on you.

Author: Tom Bragg Posted: 08/02/09 01:24 AM

Right back at ya Alex
