Objective

Creative World Awards (CWA) is an international screenwriting contest that is well known for having the writer's interest at heart when it comes to development and industry promotion.

Production: CWA brings an exciting production opportunity to the Grand Prize Winner. This year’s winner will have a short version of their script produced by The MIX, and the film will then get a guaranteed premiere at the Richmond International Film Festival. The writer will receive imdb credit, and the short will be used to help promote the GPW’s feature script.

CWA has built relationships with some of the industry's leading companies such as Lionsgate/Mandate International, GreeneStreet Films, Relativity Media, Crystal Sky, Icon Films & Entertainment, Voltage Pictures, and more - all of which get first looks at the top winners. The competition plays a critical role in connecting emerging talented writers with companies and individuals in the industry looking to develop and produce projects.

Writers have seven categories to compete in. Please see the CWA website for a descriptive breakdown of each of the main genre categories, which include:

Feature Screenplay Categories:
Action/Adventure
Horror/Thriller/Fantasy
Comedy
Drama/Family

Short Script/Teleplay Categories:

Awards

Special thanks to the CWA sponsors for helping line up a fantastic prize package worth over $30,000 in cash and prizes, including the opportunity for the Grand Prize Winner to receive a production award with imdb credit.

CWA is known for placing special emphasis on ways to bring writers more opportunities for publicity and production. In conjunction with The Moving Image Xchange and Richmond International Film Festival, CWA now offers the Grand Prize Winner the opportunity to have a short version of their winning script produced. The film gets a guaranteed premiere at the Richmond International Film Festival, which gives the writer official imdb credit, festival entry, and more.

Additionally, for the short screenplay category winner, should the winner get the script produced, that film will also be awarded free Official Selection entry into the Richmond International Film Festival, and get a guaranteed premiere. CWA awards many prizes across several categories for features, shorts, and television, so please see the website for a complete listing.

The annual Creative World Awards is more than a competition; it's a platform to further refine your work, develop your craft, and get your foot in the door.
