Woods Hole Film Festival Announces Screenplay Winners

The Woods Hole Film Festival has announced their 2005 Work-in-Progress Screenplay Competition Winners:

CATEGORY 1 - COMEDY:

FIRST PLACE: Plainville, Vermont
by Jon Seamans of Hyde Park, Massachusetts


A New Haven scam artist retreats to his grandmother's Vermont home and tries to con the locals. After installing a stolen traffic light, he is elected mayor. The clock is ticking as he attempts to expose the corrupt ex-mayor who is trying to oust him after uncovering his sordid past.

Plainville, Vermont has been chosen for this year's screenplay reading, which takes place during the Festival.

SECOND PLACE: Sending Sam
by Sherman Kew of West Hollywood, California


Sam, a decesased geriatric leaves plans for his four best friends - estranged for 50 years - to drive his body to Canada and pitch it over Niagara Falls. The friends find more than fist fights and Canadian strippers: each finds a new lease on life as past friendships are remade.

CATEGORY 1 - DRAMA/ROMANCE

FIRST PLACE: PETER'S SONG

SECOND PLACE: ABBOTT

When he meets the young Henrietta Whitman, one of NY's most desirable heiresses, Abbott jumps to turn his life around. That summer, Abbott faces his biggest challenge ever... himself!

FIRST PLACE: THE CASSINI EFFECT

This is the story of Tom, and his relationship with an alley cat, as they struggle to find meaning in their insignificant lives.
