Objective:
The screenplay contest is an opportunity for screenwriters to submit an original feature length script and win. Through these contests the applicants have the possibilities to make professional contacts reciprocally, agents, studios, and production companies who know about the Sound Heritage contest may seek out the winning material and meet with the writer. Some competition winners sell their material or find writing assignments in the Hollywood community. Sound Heritage will announce their winners through various forms of magazines, internet websites and newsletter announcements. Sound Heritage may also forward screenplays that may have not won the contest but can match it with a production company seeking that particular screenplay.
Eligibility:
18 years and older
Entry Fee:
$50 (by November 30, 2007); $60 (by February 1, 2008); $75 (by April 30, 2008).
Rules:
  1. Applicants must submit a completed application; a signed release form; one copy of an original feature film screenplay, approximately 85-135 pages in length, written originally in the English language; a self addressed stamped postcard for notification purposes (optional).
  2. An early entry fee of US $50.00 (until Nov 2007) or normal entry fee of US $60.00 (Dec 2007 thru Feb 1, 2008). Any application postmarked later than Feb 1, 2008 enclose US $75.00 late registration fee. Entry fees will not be returned. Applicants who would like their screenplay returned with comprehensive story analysis please enclose an additional $120.00 this includes shipping and handling. Applicants who do not send an additional $120.00 will not have their screenplay returned. For applicants paying by credit card on our website www.soundheritageproduction.com may send their screenplay by mail or e-mail.   3. Applicants and release forms may be computer printed or reproduced from the form found at the end of the rules and regulations. (Number 12)
  4. Submissions for the year 2008 competition must be postmarked no later than the entry deadline of April 30, 2008. Sound Heritage reserves the right to extend or adjust the annual entry deadline or other dates for the contest at any time without notice.
  5. Submissions will be accepted by mail (check or money order) or e-mail (credit card payments only) and must be the original work of the applicant. Submissions may not be based, in whole or in part, on any other fictional or non-fictional material, published or unpublished, produced or unproduced. Applicants may also not have entered into any prior option or sale agreement over $1,000 with respect to the submitted work.
  6. The applicant's name, address, or phone number should not appear on the cover, title page, or any other page of the submitted work.
  7. Under no circumstances will substitutions of corrected pages or new drafts of the entry screenplay be made.
  8. Font must be 12 point Courier, Courier New, or Courier Final Draft. Scripts should be between 85 – 135 pages in standard spec screenplay format. All pages should be numbered, and no revisions or missing pages will be accepted after the initial submission. If you want to submit a second or more drafts, you must pay the fee again.
  9. All screenplays must be submitted in English. Please submit all materials either electronically in PDF (ending in .pdf), WORD (ending in .doc), or FINALDRAFT(ending in .fdr) formats, or to our PO Box (instructions provided when you are ready to submit). PDF files must be viewable with Adobe Viewer 5.0 and higher and not exceed 2.0 MB in size. The screenplay file must not require a password to open/view. By their nature, password protected files are protected and cannot be opened by those attempting to review them. These types of files will be rendered un-reviewable and removed from the competition.
  10. The selections of the Sound Heritage judges or final.
  11. Applicants may contact Sound Heritage Production, by sending an email to soundheritage@soundheritageproduction.com, but are prohibited from directly or indirectly contacting judges and will be disqualified for doing so.
  12. Applicants must be age 18 or older to submit a screenplay to the contest.
Awards:
Top three winners will receive the following:

Screenplay synopsis will be sent out to over 70 participating studios, production companies, agencies and managers.

Screenplay will receive a recommended listing with photo, resume and interview in our newsletter and website for four months (optional).

Free industry screenwriting software package.

Cash prizes: 1st place ($2000), 2nd place ($1200), 3rd place ($500).
