Objective:
The British Short Screenplay Competition (BSSC) is now accepting submissions for their annual competition. The BSSC is the only competitive and international short screenplay competition that undertakes to produce the winning screenplay and is able to boast an unrivalled line-up of judges that has included: Kenneth Branagh, Charles Dance; producers: Michael Kuhn, Piers Jackson, Nik Powell, Leslee Udwin, Natascha Wharton, Stephen Woolley and feature film director Simon Rumley to name but a few. The winning screenplay will be produced. It will be directed by a recent graduate of the NFTS with a professional cast and crew. "I have been involved with this competition from the beginning and I'm very proud of what it is trying to achieve and I'm hugely impressed with the quality of screenplays coming in." Nik Powell. "Every writer's dream is to have their screenplay produced, to see their baby shot and up on the silver screen. Our aim at BSSC is to fullfil that dream" - says producer Arif Hussein.

Kaos Films has just completed production on their fourth winner THE OTHER ME by Mark Cowling winner of the 2005 competition; it was directed by Nicola Mills and shot on 35mm. The 2004 winner LIKE FATHER by James Walker was shot in Bosnia by director Gabriele Russell and also shot on 35mm. The 2003 winner STARS DON'T TWINKLE IN OUTER SPACE by Hank Isaac was shot in Hungry. 2003 winner THE HANDY MAN by Thomas Beach. The shooting took place very close to it's original setting in the USA. Shot on super 35mm it stars Greta Scacchi and Bill Sage and is directed by feature film director Simon Rumley. THE HANDYMAN has won five awards for best film in festivals around the world.
