Does anyone know anything about Apsotle pictures? All I was able to find out is that Denis Leary owns the prodco. However, I don't know anything about their credits.
Will someone please explain to me what this position entails?
thanks, Virginia
Wow! Thanks for all the great advice. The reason I wanted to know about the 2nd 2nd asst. director position is because I know someone who's relative is one. I've already checked out the relative and she has a lot of well-known credits in this position for both TV and Features. Mostly features, though. Anyway, this person said if I mailed her my script she would read it and give me some feedback and maybe, if she thinks it's good enough, a referral to a producer or director. So, what do you think my chances are of selling this script provided she likes it? I mean does a 2nd, 2nd asst. director have that kind of clout?
Thanks,
Chelsea
Hey, Guys, I just recently had a local Artistic Director from community theatre here in Ohio read my screenplay. He thought it was a very beautiful story and I am now in the process of adapting from screen to stage. I don't know a lot about community theatre. I hear there's not a lot of money involved, but you never know who'll be in the audience either. Has anyone on this board ever worked in community theatre and if so, will you please give me some feedback? For example: what can I expect as far as money, rehearsals, casting, and someone of importance in the audience who may want to take it to broadway, hollywood, etc. Any advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Has anyone submitted to this producer and if so, what can I expect? The one well-known credit he has is Monster's ball with Halle Berry.
Thanks
Hey guys,
I have a script that was originally a screenplay. I have also adapted it to the stage. I have a Broadway Actor/Director who has read it and I'm in the process of making it more concise. Last week someone from Lee Daniel's Entertainment [Monster's Ball] contacted me [after I queried them in August] requesting the screenplay version. My question is if Lee Daniel's Entertainment makes an offer can I sell the screenplay to them and still keep the rights to pursue a Broadway production or do the rights belong solely to the production company?
Thanks,
Chelsea
Have any of you ever contacted the agent or manager of an actor/actress to read your script? If so, what was the outcome? Did the actor read it or did you get shotdown by the agent before the actor had a chance to read it? What are the chances that you can get a script to an actor?
Thanks,
Chelsea
I am a playwright/screenwriter and in september I queried a director/Actor. [Stage] He loved the piece said it needed to be more concise but he already knew who he was going to approach in New york to get it produced. [he said this the last week of October] I did some rewriting and sent him a copy the first week of November. Then I received a request to send my script to an oscar winning actress who is looking to do something on the stage. I emailed the director and asked him to call me because I had some exciting news and maybe he could use his clout as a director to get the project moving. I didn't reveal to him who the actress was. To make a long story short, I haven't heard from this guy. I don't know if he is out of the country performing or what. But you would think he would have access to email. I don't have his phone number just an email. So, what do you guys think?

Hey guys,
Will someone please show me an example of you would write a flash of mental images. My character, who is mentally disturbed, has just been sedated and as her body becomes relaxed she closes her eyes to see and hear several images: her mother shooting herself, her doting father, her abusive aunt, her true love who dumped her etc. How would i incorporate this into my screenplay? I would appreciate any examples/advice. thanks, Chels.
Thank, Ellum. I knew I could count on this board for help. That's why it is always my first choice for answers.

I was able to get my script to an Oscar-winning actresses management company. I called and asked to speak to the manager and was stopped by the manager's assistant. She asked me to send the query/synopsis to her. She read it and asked me to call her. I called her and she requested the script. I mailed it to her at the end of November. She said they would let me know something by mid-december. I called them back at the end of December and was told the manager is extremely busy and so is she, but she got the script and they would get back to me one way or the other after the first of the year. I haven't heard anything yet but I guess it's still early.

I am somewhat familiar with Lenny. He is a very/ nice guy to talk to but what concerns me is several years ago (1995-1996) he told me he was working with Claire Dane in this movie. I can't remember the movie but anyway when I did some research I found him listed but as the "Kraft service" man. So, I mean you know take that for what it's worth.

these guys have an add on the "writers wanted" category. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this company or this person? I noticed on the IMDB board he has quite a few credits for 1st and 2nd assistant director but nothing for "Director". Any information you can give will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chels
Has anyone sent them a script? If so, what was the outcome and how long did it take for them to read your script and get back to you?
Thanks,
Chels
Billy Flynn [Chicago] "If Jesus Christ came to me and he had five thousand dollars...well, let's just say things would have worked out diffrently."
Ed,
Do you know what type of stories they are looking for? What type of story was your screenplay? I vaguely remember, when they were listed on this board, that they were seeking African-American/Multi-cultural scripts. Is that correct?
Chels
Jack,
How long ago did you send them your script? I sent mine early last week and was told by the head of Talent that it usually takes them approx 4-6 weeks to read it and to get back with you. You should know if you sent it to Keith Perkins he is no longer with the company. Another guy took his position. It could be possible that this new guy isn't reading any of the old stuff on Keith's desk. They asked me to send my script to Keith back in November. My system crashed and I was unable to. I called just to verify the address and who to send it to and that was when they told me to send it to this other guy.
Hey Guys,
Ebony is there Office magr./asst. Bryon is the head of talent. Keith Perkins is no longer with the company. The guy I sent my script to was Kenneth Min. Call the company and asked to speak with him or Bryon to see what the status of your script is. It couldn't hurt.

Steve,
Why don't you contact the VINES AGENCY. They are only interested in repping novel writers and then turning those novels into screenplays. I would try them first. They used to have a nice website. You can submit through that.

I contacted Halle Berry's management company at the end of November and was told by her Manager's asst. to send the script to her attention. I did and waited. I called and talked to the assistant, who was very nice, and she told me to give her a few weeks to read the script. To make a long story short, I waited and after several attempts, she finally emailed me back to say that the manager will not read unsolicited scripts for fear of a lawsuit. I waited four months for her to tell me this. I was more than a little peeved since their was a production company who wanted me to send them the script but when I mentioned it to the asst. she gave me this long story about how Ms. Berry would not work with production company again and if I wanted her to consider my play not to send it to this production company. So, I didn't hoping Halle or her manager would be interested in my script and they only thing I had to show for it in the end was, "No thanks". I have since send my script to that particular production company after keeping them on hold for several months. It's been three weeks since they've had my script, but as you can imagine, I hoping for the best.
