Hey Heather,

I'm one of the 'finalists' in the screenplay competition - although there are 100 'finalists' with an award going to one of the writers (plus one honorable mention I believe....)

Anyhow I'll be there on the awards night and will try to see screenings on one or two days - since finalists receive free admission to screenings...

Are you heading there?

Simon

look forward to seeing you there - but not sure how we'll recognize each other? I'll be the tall British guy... lol

Have fun if we don't meet up and good luck!!!

That's nice... thanks for the support. I'll definitely give you a report on the event next week.

Obviously there are quite a few finalists so I'll use the event to schmooze the script info to the salivating production masses!

watch this space...

I rec'd my coverage via e-mail yesterday and it was for my screenplay... I'm sure they will forward the correct coverage if you e-mail them back - they are one of the best and friendliest competitions out there... hey, at least you got to read someone else's coverage!

Is notification merely by mail, or are announcements made on the website?

"..if the "Oscar" icon in the corner of the envelope was gold plated you advanced, and if it was simple black ink you did not..."

A little bit like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory unwrapping the letter then!

LOL... yes, it seems a lot of us got in - essentially one out of every four scripts made the cut so you have a pretty good shot of making it.

The semi's will be where it gets interesting IMHO.

good luck everyone...

Well said D.Jay - I too did not make the 5% cut and even though you realize it's a tough group to get into it's a tad disheartening... same can be said for PAGE as my script also didn't get past the quarters.

However, am happy for all that made the cut! Congrats...

Good luck to everyone waiting... let's see who get some good news today.

Steven, it's great to be in... congrats! Interesting how these results come out isn't it.

It's best to take it all with a grain of salt - and, of course some genuine hope.

I managed to nab one award for best dark comedy at an indie film festival with my script.

However, it only made the quarters at ASA, PAGE and FADE IN but nothing from Nicholls, PAGE (no semi placing) and scriptapalooza.

It's a weird script so I don't expect everyone to get it. I'm just looking to receive enough kudos on this script (and others) to win representation and keep writing! after all, that's what it's all about right? Finding the magic somewhere and conveying the moment.

Good luck to you. And, hey, I still have Slamdance - who knows, right?

cheers,

I suggest e-mailing them. I lost my notes on my e-mail and they re-sent them to me.

Just send a polite e-mail asking for the coverage. They had a lot of scripts so maybe they are a tad backlogged?

Good luck!

...and their notes were very on-the-mark for me! They will help me a great deal...

Author: simon wakelin Posted: 08/05/07 01:23 AM

...your logline feels long. Gotta snag them quick and fast. Is this one pompous coach coaching all the teams? Do you need to mention the coach at all? How about this? And keep in mind it's a quick re-write just to throw it out there. Feel free to ignore it, I won't be offended... just feel it needs to punch and be unique. That's the key.

Log Line: A group of misfits enter a little league championship to play against the pompous coach that didn't want them on his side.

Please anyone with logline suggestions would help. You can better shape your logline with a few more objective rewrites of your original logline.

hope this helps!

Good stuff, I like the 'flow' of the letter now - some great suggestions from a number of people her.

Good luck!!!

Wow, thanks for noticing!

No, unfortunately I didn't attend. Really busy working on my magazine.

I wonder who won best overall. No news online.

Anyone happen to go?

Anyone know when the notification is for screenwriting competition? Next month or so?

Topic: PAGE International FIRST ROUND- Who made It?

No one is informed of their placing prior to July 1st (tomorrow) on the PAGE website. I am not sure what to think. Did you all receive e-mails?

Topic: PAGE International FIRST ROUND- Who made It?

Author: simon wakelin Posted: 06/30/09 08:05 PM

Yes I misunderstood. These are e-mail notifications of round 1 and round 2 judging PRIOR to deciding Q'Finalists. Round 1 is top 25% of ALL entries, Round 2 will then decide the top 10% of ALL entries for the QF round. Good luck all.
