Anybody out there subscribe to this? Is it worth it?
Whoa Dave! What are you doing chatting with us small-timers? Just kidding. Love the Bible, It's a must have.
Sorry to hear about your experience. I sent my screenplay in for early analysis and received really good feedback. I'd have to say whoever read my script at Bluecat definitely read the whole thing. The feedback was that good in my opinion. I made corrections, (lots of them)re-submitted and unfortunately did not make the cut. I've sent it to other contests where they must have just skimmed it or gave no feedback at all. I'm looking forward to the feedback from Bluecat a second time.
Celtx is great! I've been using it for the last year and a half and love it.
Does anyone know off hand how many entrants there were at the beginning of this contest?
Orlando, were both still hanging in there. Good luck to you.
In the cards. LOL! Thanks Robert.
Robert, hopefully Flat Pennies finishes in the money.
Way to go Jean!
"I guess the R-rated comedy is not too out of avor in Hollywood."
I hope not, I'm writing one right now.
"I guess the R-rated comedy is not too out of favor in Hollywood."
I hope not, I'm writing one right now.
Flo, are you sure? On the Index Cards tab, click Show Script and it will turn to Show Notes.
Flo, I'm glad it worked for you.
The website says the week of October 1. I'm not sure what that really means but I interpret it to be til Sunday the 5th.
Death to Smoochy by Adam Resnick

Does anybody know where I can get a copy of this script?
Anyone know where to get a pdf version of this script?
Thanks, but I found this version and it is missing pages.
Did anyone notice that the winner of the logline contest just optioned his screenplay?

Ryan Mains and Suzan Derkson Option "Fat Camp: Time to DIEt"
Ryan Mains and Suzan Derkson with Politically Incorrect Productions have optioned The Writers Place member Matt Lutz's feature horror/comedy script "Fat Camp: Time to DIET." The producers found Lutz on InkTip with the help of TWPs co-founder Paula Brancato. Mains, a young up-and-coming director whose film school thesis was nominated for two Leo Awards, recently wrapped production on his first feature comedy "Of Golf and God," which he completed while working in various capacities on other feature films like "Night at the Museum" with Ben Stiller and Robin Williams, and "Traveling" with Jennifer Aniston and Martin Sheen. Suzan Derkson, meanwhile, has worked on some of the most highly acclaimed and Emmy Award winning television series shot in Canada, e.g., "The X-Files," "Millennium," and the Hallmark mini-series "Dreamkeeper," as well as on features like the "Scary Movie" franchise. Writer Matt Lutz is an accomplished musician and playwright finishing up graduate studies in screenwriting at the University of Southern California. The deal was negotiated by Lutz' manager, Paula Brancato, a producer and former investment banker who also works as a screenwriting professor at USC, where she and Matt first met.

Looks like some good info.
You just can't go wrong with Celtx.
Does anyone know where I could get a copy of this script written bt Neil Armfield?
Yes, a hard one to find indeed. I've been working on an outline for a screenplay with a similar theme. I came across the title reading an article about Heath Ledger and then went to imdb to read the synopsis. I wanted to give it a read. Looks like this one may be hard to get a hold of.
"sex is an ugly thing and we're ugly when we're doing it."
That depends on who you are doing with.
"I would just write: On the gravestone is written "RIP" with the name "John Jones" beneath that and the dates "blah blah" below."
This would work perfectly IMO.
IMHO = In my honest opinion. Also, Patrick, I've heard the same thing regarding Nichols. Hope it's not true.
I get a TON of inquiries from Inktip regarding my shorts. I haven't had any luck getting one shot yet, but I do believe it will happen one day.
A PDF version of Chinatown? Anyone?
Tim, it would be better if you made the "Milkman" the grandson of Peter North.
That's a great looking web site. Congratulations!
I didn't enter Bluecat this year, but did last year. I also did an earlybird analysis. I'd have to say that the reader DEFINITELY read my script thoroughly and gave really good feedback. When I resubmitted I chose to have a different reader, and that feedback was also very good. I've even applied some of the recommendations I had received from both readers and I think it's made my script better. Just my two cents.
Not Dead Yet - To regain their independence from their over protective families, a pair of high spirited grannies rebel and embark on an eye opening road trip through America's southwest but find nothing but trouble.
I like this one, but have revised it some. I don't think you need "but find nothing but trouble." I think "eyeopening" let's us know the grannies are in for some adventure.
Title: Not Dead Yet
Logline: To regain their independence from their over protective families, a pair of high spirited grannies rebel and embark on an eye opening road trip through America's southwest.
I think this is shorter & sweeter.
"Lets take a look at this thread. 1. David disagrees with Bluecat. 2. Thomas agrees with David. 3. Orlanda chimed in. 4. Patrick entered Bluecat, only got half his due. 5. Rodney parachuted in. 6. David thought Rodney was arrogant. 7. Rodney is a teacher. 8. Thomas is also a teacher. 9. David took on Gordy. 10.Paula had her usual wisdom. 11.Gordy got defensive. 12.David took on Gordy again. 13.Gordy dident like it. 14.Janet is really really good. 15.Nelson really made David mad. 16.David had choice words for Nelson. 17. Orlanda loves everything. 18. Ron counts himself lucky. 19. Gordy had a typo. 20. David is going to be o k. 21. Question of the day, who the hell is ant derrico."
James, we'll never accuse you of NOT thouroughly reviewing the subject matter. Good synopsis.
"I think someone should pitch, "Night of the Living Dead Side Story". The dead are gonna have their day tonight . . . the dead are gonna have their way tonight . . ."
Patrick, I came up with the same sort of concept after "Mama Mia" came out. I'm not a big fan of musicals and I thought the only musical I would ever watch was a "Dawn of the Dead" remake.
"You won a contest with barely over 100 entrants."
Surely you're joking?
That's better than I've ever placed. Congrats indeed!
haven't received my feedback from March 09 contest yet. Not sure if that's good or bad. Hmmm...
Way to go Irin! Congratulations! I'm reading my feedback now and I'm very impressed. This is without a doubt the best feedback I've ever received on a script.
Irin, when you said you'd scored a 59 I had a feeling you had it. I was discouraged to see my score of 46, but Cat's first attempt on her winning script was 38, so I still have hope. I'll fix mine up and enter it in the May contest.
I remeber reading this synopsis and loving it. Good luck in Nicholls. I also submitted.
Are the quartefinalists being announce end of July?
I'm in the loser's club too. Oh well.
Mike, your logline can be shorter with less information.
A young doctor strives to save the inmates that have mysteriously been freed to roam the dark corridors of an asylum for the criminally insane where evil has many faces.
The rest of the info can be part of the synopsis.
Mike, the idea is to "hook" the reader, which the simplified logline does for me. It makes me want to read more. That logline would lead me to read the synopsis where you can elaborate. Too many loglines are kinda like mini-synopses.
I knew a MIke Souder from Philadelphia. You wouldn't happen to be him?
Nick, they did announce first round qualifiers. Quartes to be announced mid-December.

Looks like the pushed back the quarterfinal results to the 23rd of December. Lots to judge I guess.
Sorry, here's a link.

You forgot one
Flesh, they're dykes!
That movie was hilarious!
They pushed the quarters back to dec 23. I was at the site two days ago and it was up and running. Filmmakers also sponsors a feature contest FilmMakers International Screenwriting Awards, so I'd be surprised if they just disappeared. More than likely they're updating the website.
They never sent out a notice. I happened to check the site on the 15th and saw the change to the 23rd. They did the same for the feature contest.
Funny article. I looked him up on IMDB and it looks like he has far many "misses" than hits. Ah, the life of a screenwriter.
Jennifer Brooks is the contact but her email is info@filmmakers.com, which is affiliated with the site that's down. Anybody have an alternative email for her?
Yes, the site is back. I guess they wanted to see if we were paying attention.
Looks like they pushed the quarters to Dec 29 now.

I came across this and was wondering if it might be worthwhile

Is there any money in this and is it a good way into screenwriting?
