Topic: Upcoming Contests With Feedback

Author: Jeffrey Ward Posted: 11/26/08 10:07 PM

I'm fairly new to MovieBytes and I've learned a lot by reading everyone's comments. There is some awesome advice and information that is shared here!

I recently entered my first contest (Script Savvy) and thought their feedback was extremely helpful. I've heard good things about the feedback from 20/20 and plan on entering that one as well.

My question is what other upcoming contests can you recommend that you personally think the feedback is worth getting? Thank you in advance.

I hope everyone here has a safe and very happy Thanksgiving holiday!

Topic: adding fiction to fact...is it wrong?

If I'm not mistaken, Spike Lee's "Miracle at St. Anna" is a fictional story set around true events. And, of course, the biggest grossing film of all time, "Titanic" is a fictional story set within a real event.

Topic: Writing the shallow, unlikeable character

It's good to mix characters that will be killed with likable and unlikable personalities. Sometimes it's nice for the audience to see a character that's being a jerk lose their head.

I enjoyed it and voted. Great job!

Where in Florida will you be shooting?

Topic: ScriptSavvy September contest

I believe Script Savvy usually sends out all their feedback and scores at the end of the following month. So I would look for an email around Oct. 31st or Nov. 1st. for Sept. results.

Thanks for the reviews. However, I don't believe Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ever wrote "Elementary, my dear Watson". That came from screenwriters from the earlier movies.

I received a 57 a couple of months ago, which wasn't good enough for a HM. Some months are tougher than others.
