Movie Review: War For the Planet Of The Apes

Pros :
- exciting war drama
- mixing Shakespeare and Joseph Conrad in very outdated good way
- loved the operatic curtain close
- brilliant performance Andy Serkis (he will win best actor at 2017-2018 Oscar)

Cons:
-expository dialogues
-need cooler/iconic scenes and dialogues , eg. Apocalypse Now
-it's 2+ hours long but it should be 4 hours, split it in two movies
-Colonel (Woody H) lacks impact at the end
-the Colonel needs more muscles; looks weak
-the "human" zoo - lacked a believable security design, eg fences
-the helicopter invasion scene had very little pacing/build-up and visual backstory
-absent in national and international geographical cinematographic flavoring and marco screenwriting bits

Coming soon, my review of Christopher Nolan's WAR MASTERPIECE "Dunkirk.

99% of the critics are loving it. But it might be decisive on the "pedestrian" level.

Feel free to post your reviews here. Please comment on the writing and direction.

Coming soon too, my review of story and direction of :

ATOMIC BLONDE which Opens July 28 !!
www.atomicblonde.com
Starring Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, Sofia Boutella.

Looks good and critics are loving it.

But the LESBIAN scene between Theron and Sofia Boutella might
be too much for some.

And might or might not be acceptable by comic con fans.

Please feel free to post your reviews of the story and direction.

I will post my review after I watch it.

Here is my review of Dunkirk:

Pros:
-intense action
-great sound effects
-awesome stunts
-ace cinematography
-pretty to look at

Cons:
-repetitive action
-too experimental it its unique structure
-this movie was made for critics and fill buffs
-not meant for the average Joe
-we go to war movies for romance, drama and then some unique action scenes. UNIQUE!!!!!!!!
-linear or non linear - please Mr. Nolan give us a war movie with a heart and soul and love and its predictable brutality
-MAKE IT UNPREDICTABLE!!!!!
-don't make movies for boozy intellectualized film critics and war film geeks
-felt like Malick at times
-and why DID 4 couples walk out of the theater?

Review of MOTHER -
Director: Darren Aronofsky
Writer: Darren Aronofsky
Staring: Jennifer Lawrence

Pros:
-good cast
-dedicated performances
-Lawrence's Oscar worthy moving/passionate performance

Cons:
-so uncool to make a film this dark about parenthood, pregnancy and biblical subliminal messages
-puts too much into the kitchen sink
-too experimental
-too sado-masochistic and misogynist
-can't take it seriously, cartoonish at times

Review of "Wind River

Rating: R (strong violence, a rape, disturbing images, and language)
Genre: Drama, Mystery & Suspense
Directed By: Taylor Sheridan
Written By: Taylor Sheridan
In Theaters: Aug 4, 2017 Limited
Box Office: $31,645,630

PROS:-good acting
-good cinematography
-good cast

CONS:
-nothing new , with these landscape mystery thriller films
-implausible FBI cinematic approach
-action, staged with zero surprises
-director's style of ending his film -- too boring
-uncool all over
-who is the audience?
-nothing is cool in this movie
-takes itself too seriously, ZERO FUN
-need to inject it with some noir pulp sexiness
-NEED MORE CINEMATIC FUN AND CINEMATIC SMARTS, not novel/painting smarts or yaaa, this would make a great painting

Review of Blade Runner 2049

Director: Denis Villeneuve
Film series: Blade Runner Film Series
Cinematography: Roger Deakins
Music composed by: Jóhann Jóhannsson, Hans Zimmer, Benjamin Wallfisch

Pros:
-romantic subplot, the future of sexy
-soulful screenplay - yup a gritty dark brooding SCI-FI about family. sons and daughters , awesome , LOVED THE STORY
-sci-fi masterpiece cinematography... OSCAR bound for sure
-loved the cinematic existential approach
-great soundtrack, loud and effective
-great sound effects... CRISP AND PERFECT AND HAUNTING
-epic, poetic, violent fight at the end
-loved how they incorporated rain, snow, fog, smog, sand AND THE OCEAN AND WAVES in THIS apocalypse setting OF fights and chases
-FINALLY- this movie is broodingly sumptuous saga-ish exploring the essence of being human on a dazzling drizzily neon and noir way - SCI FI FAST MEDIATION WITH CONTROLLED ACTION BY MASTERS OF THEIR TRADE

Cons:
-the Elvis Presley songs and scenes was a bit too odd
-Harrison Ford performance - decent/AND applause worthy but a bit too long

-loved the Aquaman's scenes
-loved Wonder Woman dialogues
-frenetic fights at the end
-poetic mayhem on every frame

CONS
-make sure you rest before seeing, it moves too fast at the times - the action
-i wished the special effects was bette
r than Thor, but Thor had better special effects
-more money needed to make the actions clearer and cooler

Rating: PG-13 (for sequences of sci-fi violence and action), omg, when will Tarantino direct a DC or Marvel movie
Genre: Action & Adventure, Drama, Science Fiction & Fantasy, you got it
Directed By: Zack Snyder, he is a good director , but didn't he make Sucker Punch R-rated, that was his downfall
