Topic: Input appreciated

Author: daniel beacham Posted: 05/03/00 02:32 AM

Hello, I have completed my fourth screenplay.. they are all registered, and I would like your opinions about something. I want to market my comedy. It is a spoof on titanic set to an urban "Friday-chris Tucker" feel called greyhound. I was wondering if you all think a project like this is easily marketable, or should I go with my scream type thriller? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Daniel,

Obviously I have not read your screenplays. In general, Comedy is King. Look at the posting under the Home section for the statistics on what type of genre is most heavily bought and you will see Comedy. All other things being equal, go with the comedy.

The other approach, if you are pitching your own scripts, is to pitch some or all of them. Let the buyer decise what he/she wants. Best of luck.

Daniel--

A Titanic spoof called GIGANTIC is already in production -- at New Line, I think.

So maybe you'd better go with the thriller.

HEY D.B. COOPER!!!

Make sure your stuff is polished and easy for a weary readers eyes to zip through before you submit anything!!!!

If you can't read it aloud without stopping, then it's not polished enough.

Have some actor friends come over and read it aloud, you'll see what I mean.

Weary readers throw stuff out by the ton, but if it's polished, it just may end up on film instead.

GO FORTH NAD, PROSPER!!!!D.G.

P.S. thedailyscript.com will help a vast amount, if you go there already, nevermind.
