Topic: Pie in the Sky

Author: Craig Schwartz Posted: 08/23/02 02:02 AM

Since someone is doing "Pieology" here, why not let's share our astrological signs? Then we can look each other up and prejudge/psycho-illogically analyze every post that appears under that person's name.

Also: I have found the majority of writers *I've* encountered to be Geminis. I wonder if it'll pan out here.

--Yes, I am a Gemini.

This topic is surely no more brainless than others I've seen of late.... :-)

Okay, astrological signs. I'm a Leo. What does that mean as far as writing goes?

Author: Orlanda Szabo Posted: 08/23/02 02:11 AM

I'm Aquarian.

Anyone for numerology (#3) and Chinese (year of the pig/boar) depending on which one you read.

Have a good one.

When people ask me what my sign is I tell them "Feces".

Author: Lisa Cresswell Posted: 08/23/02 05:58 AM

Now don't you guys go and forget to harass Craig about making the finals in the recent Scriptrep Contest! Gotta keep your eye on those pesky Gemini!

your friendly, neighborhood Cancer ;)

I am proud to say I was born under the sign of the "TWINS".

Who's better at BS than a taurus?

Author: Mary Kay LaBrie Posted: 08/23/02 09:44 AM

Libra and an INFJ on the Meyer's - Briggs/Keirsey Personality type indicator. Which is the "writer" personality.

Virgo. Maybe that's why rewriting is difficult; we're supposed to be perfectionists. Clearly in my case that doesn't apply to housework. And yes, that means my birthday's coming up soon.

Happy Birthday all you Leos out there.

Miriam

Virgo too! 9/10/56 Which as fate would have it was my mother's 46th bithday. Which means in two weeks I'll be her age when I was born and the more I think about that it feels very weird. But not as weird as I feel when I think about how old I'll be when my kids are my age. Yikes.

Rewrites? I'm so bad I do them while I'm writing!

Saggitarius - for all those well intentioned, over the horizon arrow shots - I know not where they land - Scorpio rising - for intrigue and Virgo moon - Well, someone's gotta clean up the mess.

Author: Marcel Fayant Posted: 08/23/02 12:53 PM

some papers state I am a libra others say scorpio. Since I am of a Metis background it goes with out saying. astrology is not astromony but both are based around the stars.

Author: Andrea Holden Posted: 08/23/02 04:34 PM

Gemini -- That's why I feel like Jim Carrey in Me, Myself, and Irene most of the time. (Especially the scene where he punches himself out of his own car)

One of my personalities is always fighting the other. Who's gonna win?

I never know -- and neither does anyone else...

Andrea

Author: Craig Schwartz Posted: 08/23/02 04:35 PM

No more Geminis?

Well, I guess the field has been cleared for moi!

Craig

(Lisa: a CANCER? Oh my...)

Author: Andrea Holden Posted: 08/23/02 04:43 PM

Also -- birth sign confirms my pieology theory. Miriam's a Virgo, that's why she makes pumpkin pie for herself. Earth mother that she is... perfectionist (I make my crusts from scratch) ... and she keeps dark, hidden delights for herself all around the house. You can't make a Virgo give up anything they don't want to -- like where Miriam hides her Godivas.

I have another theory too -- sockology.

What kind of socks we wear or don't wear says a lot about who we are.

Most Geminis I know prefer to be barefoot.

Virgos need heavy cotton. Libras always match. Aries always looses them. Leos like bright ones. Cancers have to have the latest...

And don't get me started on underwear! A real underwear analysis reveals a goldmine of character information...

For instance, most Virgos I know wear their underwear inside out. Can't stand the seams. They itch.

Author: Miriam Queensen Posted: 08/23/02 05:50 PM

Okay, I liked your pie thing, Andrea, but here I've got to draw the line. I do NOT wear my underwear inside out! Nor do I like heavy cotton socks! I also very very rarely make pie or hide Godivas for myself, truth be told. I don't usually allow myself these hidden treats we now all think I have in every nook and cranny in the house.

However, I do allow myself some Breyer's mint chocolate chip ice cream from time to time, which no one else in the house likes (hence it won't disappear before I've had a chance to eat some).

Oh dear, now Andrea's going to head into ice cream analysis. . .

Miriam

Author: Andrea Holden Posted: 08/23/02 06:11 PM

Miriam,

You have, and always will, break "the mould."

:-)

No offense my dear, don't want a Virgo mad at me. Already got one -- my husband.

Andrea

PS -- Will keep my fingers "shut" on the ice cream. Promise. Unless my other, evil, nasty, obnoxious twin takes over....

Gem-am-I, baby!

Hey Peter - My best friend is a Sagittarius. Funny thing is her last name is Fraser too.

Weird eh?

Have a good one.

Author: Christine Chepeleff Posted: 08/24/02 07:27 AM

Geminis and Virgos both have Mercury as a ruling planet, and, as many children of the 60's/70's know, Mercury rules Communication. Therefore, so many writers are born in those two signs because they were literally BORN to write - they have no choice. The rest of the signs may enjoy writing, but the motivation may be different. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius (Fire signs) - to get attention and go to cool parties. Cancer(Watersign): probably to purge their sensitive, highly emotional and probably tortured souls. Tauruses (Earth sign) have a good helping of creativity AND the persistence required in this field - but really, Tauruses would rather roll around naked on a bed of $100 bills and have someone feed them Hagen Dazs all day. Did I forget anybody?

And me? I'm a sneaky, ruthless, sex-obsessed Scorpio with a Sag acendency and a Gemini moon - so I basically want to call attention to my depravities by writing about them....

Author: Randy Roberts Posted: 08/24/02 11:25 AM

Christine,

You forgot us Pisces. Uh-oh, I feel a mood coming on.

Author: Barbara Marshall Posted: 08/24/02 01:02 PM

Don't forget the Capricorns! We're stubborn as all hell and always get our way.

GGGGRRRRRRR!

Congrats Craig!

Author: Orlanda Szabo Posted: 08/24/02 05:14 PM

Hey Christine - What about Aquarians? We're creative and inventive.

And Randy, there's a genius inside every Pisces. Apply it where you will.

Have a good one.

Orlando, you and I are the Aquarians. My day is the 11th. When I was a kid, I went to school with roughly the same 30 to 40 people for quite a long time. 12 of us had a birthdays between Feb 1 and 15th. We have had some great parties over the years.

I share a birthday with Burt Reynolds. I do consider that an inspiration. Actually one of my first short stories was inspired by Reynolds' Theater in Jupiter Florida. Four young actors go on a road trip to meet Burt and get jobs at his theater. To Jupitor and Back.

Ooops I think my water broke

I share a birthday with Judy Garland.

I also have a good friend I visit often in Hollywood, who lives in the building Judy Garland lived in when she was at her lowest.

There I met and dated a strange chick in the elevator (that is, I met her in the elevator). And guess what? She was a professional astrologer!

It's all coming full-circle.

I share a birthday with Joan Crawford.

And I used to wondered why I had affection for emotional but stong women with shoulder pads.

Author: Miriam Queensen Posted: 08/25/02 10:58 AM

I share a birthday with Sophia Loren. I only wish I looked more like her . . .

Miriam

Author: Ashley Moyé Posted: 08/25/02 11:34 AM

:O

Our personalities are determined by the date and GMT time of our physical birth? And someone in the past somehow knew what those traits were? What college did this person go to? Who was their professor?

You get my drift. Right?

I kind of thought we were out of the Dark Ages, folks.

Author: Craig Schwartz Posted: 08/26/02 12:47 AM

Ashley:

I read your horoscope for today -- it said you were going to say that.

Craig

Author: Orlanda Szabo Posted: 08/26/02 03:33 AM

Steve - Burt Reynolds eh. Mine's the 16th.

Get this, I've got Edgar Bergen, LeVar Burton, John McEnroe, Ice T, James Ingram and Sonny Bono.

Does that mean I'm supposed to be a singing sportswoman that produces?

LOL Hey, a baseball opera.

It's three and two at the bottom of the nineth, bases loaded and a tie game.

The pitch and at bat, um, how about Zena line drives the ball straight out center field into the stands.

The crowd roars as Zena yodels to first. Echoes from her teammates follow her into the big finale' as she touches home base. Then gets beaned in the back of the head by the incoming ball.

Ow. Man that would hurt.

A musical "League of Their Own"

What do think? Tragedy or comedy?

Anyway, drop kick the o at the end of my name and make it an A, eh.

Have a good one.

I share a birthday with Arnold Schwarzenegger. We actually have a lot in common. He's a Republican, male bodybuilding action megastar. I'm a Democrat, female, big-brained writer. Hmmm...Ok, maybe not so much in common after all. Except that we're both Leos.

Author: grover grant Posted: 08/26/02 08:22 PM

PIE . . . SEES.

We're the creative and spiritual geniuses.

Author: STEVEN CALDERWOOD Posted: 08/26/02 10:34 PM

Orlando

Maybe your a short wooden guy, that reads under the rainbow, a bigmouthed tennis playing, lousy acting, good singing wannabe...Oh when you go skiing, watch out for that tree!

I'm just a hasbeen with a bad hair job.

I have to find out who else is on by borned day.

Steve

Author: Marcel Fayant Posted: 08/26/02 11:12 PM

thanks for giving me a sign.

Author: Orlanda Szabo Posted: 08/27/02 12:58 AM

Steve - Check Imdb.com. Punch up Burt then click on his birth date and viola, a whole list of talents born on that day.

Have a good one.

Orlandaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Author: Miriam Queensen Posted: 08/27/02 01:09 AM

Steven,

Orlanda has given you more than one hint now; she's female, and the female version of the name is Orlanda. With an "a" at the end instead of an "o." You are probably thinking of Orlando, the novel by Virginia Woolf, or the male actors Orlando Bloom or Orlando Jones, perhaps?

Miriam

Author: Craig Schwartz Posted: 08/27/02 01:16 AM

I kept reading that as "Orlando" too. It's probably the "o" at the end of "Szabo" which makes the mind immediately transpose.

Soooo you're a chick. Great -- ANOTHER one. Wanting to write screenplays....

:-)

Craig

Author: Orlanda Szabo Posted: 08/29/02 02:57 AM

Wanting Craig? LOL Doing. Only 6 features so far. But I do have the 28 episodes of a new series that I practiced on.

Thanks for your backup Miriam. You know, I had one little old lady say, "I'll think Orlando, Florida and never forget your name. Well, she remembered all right.

LOL She still calls me Florida to this day.

Have a good one.

Steve - I hate to tell you this, but this tomboy is only an inch shy of 6' and a Viking to boot.

Have a good one.
