Ron

Author: jessie jamie Posted: 02/28/04 08:26 PM

Who is Colin O'Reilly?

Author: RON MAIN Posted: 02/29/04 01:56 PM

Jessie,

Colin O'Reilly is/was an LA based manager who moves around a lot, solicited this board for scripts, saying that he's an agent, is a judge in competitions, who we're now told is " in development. ' He had a lot of nieve people (including me) send him material last summer. Do the math....

Ron

Origin is legit and if they are requesting to read your work, I wouldn't be hesitating.

God, I'd forgotten about C. O'Reilly. I still think it is funny how he got compared to M. Hernandez and Brooklyn Weaver. Different ballparks by far!!

"God, I'd forgotten about C. O'Reilly. I still think it is funny how he got compared to M. Hernandez and Brooklyn Weaver. Different ballparks by far!!"

Well, out of the three, I--at least--have to give Colin O. credit for not asking what color my panties were.

Ron...about Colin. Can you be more specific? What did he do with all those scripts that were sent to him?

Author: Michele Hackman Posted: 03/01/04 02:59 PM

"Well, out of the three, I--at least--have to give Colin O. credit for not asking what color my panties were."

Terri Dickey, are you honestly saying that Marc Hernandez and Brooklyn Weaver asked you what color panties you were wearing?

Are you aware that you are speaking in a public forum? I've dealt with Marc Hernandez, as have several others here, and he was nothing if not professional. Do you really want to do this?

I'm trying to stay out of your downward spiral, but you need to pull yourself together. Don't give the rest of us here a bad name.

'I'm trying to stay out of your downward spiral, but you need to pull yourself together. Don't give the rest of us here a bad name.'

Michele -

Anyone who comes to this site and reads the posts--if they choose to believe not only the content, but who the author claims to be--will make up their own mind. The only 'downward spiral' I've noticed on this BB is how some seem to wait for the slightest reason to insult someone else. No doubt a psychologist would recognize the symtoms of a deeply disturbed mind, but the reality and the sadness of it all is simply that when the portals of the internet are opened without any means of knowing anything about who the posters (and posiers) are, and when there is no monitoring of the portal, anyone can wander in and spew their venom - with seeming impunity.

It's seems much harder to insult and demean, slander and threaten than to exhibit tolerance - to contribute something uplifting by way of congratulations to others for their hard-won achievements. As I reall, Terri was the first to learn of your advancement to finalist at Nicholls and to offer her congratulations to you; and she even began the thread that told others of your success. Why you, or anyone, would question her 'motives' is something I can not comprehend.

This BB used to be a place where writers could check in, offer advice, suggest ways of formatting that might be helpful, give information about who's buying or looking for specific scripts or writers for hire. And a few individuals with ill intentions seem to have ruined the place. And it's too bad, because no-one ever benefits from uncivilized, rude behavior - not even those who practice it. Where have all the professional and mature contributors gone? They certainly have, for the most part, left this BB.

And Pinky - you know that we have never met, and I won't respond to your slander, except to point out that if you ever did 'unspeakable things' with an instructor for a better grade, it doesn't say much for you as a person - does it?

Author: Michele Hackman Posted: 03/01/04 04:43 PM

Oh, I see now why more than one persona is so necessary for you, Terri. You never have to answer a question directly.

I was trying to stay out of this because I really don't need it. But we're sick of your several personalities running this board. We're sick to death of you acting like you know everything there is to know about screenwriting, but never putting yourself out there on the line like we have to do.

We enter contests IN OUR OWN NAMES, and when we fail, we face our failures in public. I've heard your excuses about why you "don't enter contests anymore," and frankly they don't wash.

You have "Ellum" talk about your Nicholl finalist status, then you come back and say, oh, now, don't give away my secrets, ha, ha. If you've actually reached that level of success, give us the proof, once and for all. And I'll shut up, you have my word.

I'm just sick of your little tag team. You have a lot to offer. A lot of your advice makes sense. You've helped a lot of people! But there's no reason to hide behind several identities in order to hide what you think of as failures. You've had your successes, too.

We're all in this boat together. We don't have to snipe at each other.

I appreciate the fact that you congratulated me when I made the finals. Since then, you've taken a couple of pot shots at me.

But the main issue here is that several of us believe you are posing as Ellum McCurdy Devins, as well as several other MovieBytes personalities, now and in the past. And we're tired of the game.

We really like this forum, except for your silly game. And I, for one, would like Richard O'Brien to come back -- and a lot of others who've left because of you -- to return.

I'm going to give this forum a little more time, myself, because I really like it here. I'm going to stay out of your way, because I just don't need the grief.

Patiently,

Michele

Right on Michele.

I too used to enoy participating on this board when I felt like everyone here was on the up and up and honsetly wanted to help others. Now, I rarely post because there are just too many back-scratchers and impersonators.

Good luck.

Author: John Pusztay Posted: 03/01/04 08:00 PM

Wow... and I thought I was the only one who felt like that.

However, it really isn't just the one person. There seems to be a little cyber clique going on around here.

I've asked several questions in the past that may have seemed trivial to most on here, but to me they were important. I was taken aback by some of the snide responses but ignored them.

I highly doubt now that I will be renewing any type of membership because of it. Why pay to get insulted? I can get that anywhere for free.

Author: STEVEN CALDERWOOD Posted: 03/01/04 09:10 PM

The COLOR of your panties. You mean you wear them when you go out to pitch your work??? LOL

I tried that once and William Morris said that the Dance studio was next door.

Hell even Hobbits can get work around here and you know what they say about a guy with big harry feet?

Seriously-- does anybody know what they say? I have to shave my twice a day.

Oh by the way Brook, when you read all this thread just remember, I'm the guy with the Homer Simpson Boxer shorts and their WHITE.

Lunch next week Brook- It's your turn to buy!!!!

Curt,

Ron...about Colin. Can you be more specific? What did he do with all those scripts that were sent to him?

Colin changed management companies soon after he requested scripts from many of us. I sent him 3, and I know others sent multiple submissions. One or two people did receive telephone calls, and I believe one person signed with him. It's very likely the great majority of the sent material ended up in the dumpster..

Ron

Author: Z. Core Posted: 03/02/04 05:22 PM

Ron,

FWIW, I sent Colin a script, and he phoned to say he liked it and wanted to read all my completed scripts.

I sent them in October and never heard a word back.

Author: RON MAIN Posted: 03/03/04 12:38 AM

Z Core,

October is not that far in the past. There might still be an opportunity. That being said, I had a management company ask for a number of my screenplays back in Octorber. I was so busy trying to get something going with a producer who had solicited on Inktip, and loved my script, that I never sent them anything. Needless to say, I feel far too much time has passed to send something now. I was in LA two weeks ago trying to get the producer to at least go into development, but he's involved in two other films, and unable to start anything new. Geezz.. Go figure.. Opportunity is a very elusive thing... Sometimes we make the wrong choices. Know what I mean..

Since Colin called you, you should give him a call.

Best of luck..

Ron
