Has anyone ever submitted to Paramount for the Star Trek series (VOYAGER or DS9).
I'd be interested to hear about the experience.

my ex-roommate had a script fly far up the ranks for 'voyager' with an invite to submit more scripts, so there ya go...

I submitted a spec script a few
years back. They didn't buy it,
but they invited me to pitch. So
far, I've pitched six times, and I'll
be doing it again soon. As a complete
and utter newbie, it's been great,
because it's *really* helped me
practice how to pitch that killer,
high-concept story. Someday I may
even get a sale out of it...
This is for "Voyager," btw. DS9 is
going off the air and no longer accepts
spec submissions.

The only thing I know about ST writing is they've got a staff of people to come up with the thechno-babble.
In a script when they're working through the story, the first few drafts will actually have (TECH) written in the dialog so these guys can write an explaination in Trek speak for the problem/solution of the week.

Personally I feel that writing for star trek is a waste of time

Yo,Yolanda
Writing for any show is never a waste of time. It's money in the bank, experience both in the craft and busniess of writing and if it's something you enjoy, it's joy in your life. These three things combined or as only one are never a waste of time.
Keep writing.

Yo Jay I meant that Star Trek is quickly running out of ideas. Everything they have is old, why do you think the ratings are low. You sound as is they gave you a shot. Did they? Personally I look for ideas that are fresh in in any venue.
