Topic: Award winning writer looking for representation

I am a recent film school MFA program graduate. I have recently moved to Los Angeles and am beginning my search for representation.
My first feature screenplay, a teen thriller, was optioned by an established production company and was in development with a distribution deal in place and my most recent feature has been garnering very good feedback from industry professionals.
I have won multiple awards for my writing, both features and television spec scripts, I have won or been a finalist in every major studio backed screenplay competition including those by 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, CBS, Nickelodeon, Bestsfest and others.
Unfortunately, despite their promises, the competitions did not help in finding the winners representation.
I am not asking for a guarantee of representation, I’d just like a chance to be read by agents and mangers.
I would be happy to tell you more, and give you a full list of my awards and recognitions along with my specs and features.
Please feel free to e-mail me: arcoarco@hotmail.com
Thank You.

You're in the same boat as the rest of us who won awards--and nothing happened. The struggle's the same as before we won anything!
Unfortunately, as far as "sales," the competition's more fierce than it was five, ten and 20 years ago. It just seems to get tougher and tougher as opposed to easier!
You can make ONE GREAT SALE and still be sittin' on your ass at the computer for years to come while you continue to write and continue to pitch. It's a vicious cycle! Kind a' like having to do laundry. The damn clothes won't get clean until you actually wash 'em. I'm so damn tired from so much laundry.

If you want top agency representation then write a high concept commercial script.

Pitch development execs; get good reads and welcomes to send other material. Get good reads on that material, be nice; make friends with them; and when it feels right, ask for a referral...
Good luck..

Hi all,
With so many good scripts and writers that I know are out there, why do they keep making such crummy films??

Connie,
Fear of losing their jobs.. Committee thinking.. Studio marketing.. Intern Readers who are also aspiring screenwriters.. Need to have a proven " sure thing; " which is a proven impossiblity.. Also, Genre focus, and desperation to give the audiance something, " they'll understand. "
You mention " inventive, " in a metting, and you're out the door..
Best,
Ron

I am shocked and or appauled that nobody has picked you up! I mean what is this world coming to. What is going on? YOU have enough "pull" that YOU should be calling the shots? I pray that you do get a deal from someone!
