Can anyone explain these to me?
No violence. No sex. Positive reflection on spiritual matters.
Specifically, can it be about a path to redemption/meaning? Would a TENDER MERCIES qualify?
I'm having some difficulty understanding what they want. Thanks for any insight.

Stephen,
Good idea! I'll put that goal on my list too.
Basically, the rules say that the script has to be a G or PG rating and when you read it like that then the sex and violence rules make more sense.
The film that's currently in production is the 1st place winner from the first year. It's about a foster child with AIDES that wants a family before he dies. So, they aren't skirting hard issues.

Good to hear.
Within that framework there could be some great scripts. I'll likely enter and give it a chance.

I thought about entering because they give you feedback, I believe, if you ask, at the close of the competition. But for all the uplifting, spiritual, redemption and triumph-over-tragedy aspects of the script I want to enter, the inciting incident is all about murder and torture. I read the guidelines upside down and sideways, but concluded I might get a nod for a decent script, but no chance to win. Still pondering...

I think the torture would make it hard since the guidlines are G or PG.
