MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Anne Sagel

An interview with screenwriter Anne Sagel regarding the Screamfest Writing Competition.

Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?

A: THE MARTYR. A NYC detective tracks a serial killer who kills his victims in the manner of religious saints.

Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?

A: I first entered Screamfest because I saw it on the Internet. THE MARTYR was a top five finalist. The Screamfest staff was very active and introduced me to industry professionals. I entered Screamfest again the following year with a different script and was again a finalist.

Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?

A: The administration delivered everything they said they would. Additionally, they worked very hard to promote my script THE MARTYR to industry professionals.

Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?

A: I received feedback from this contest that helped me improve the script and become a better writer.

Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?

A: I have had several industry meetings regarding my script because of my placement in Screamfest.

Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?

A: I have written several screenplays. I am still awaiting my big break, but Screamfest took me to a new level.

Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?

A: I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. I don't plan to move. I can be in Los Angeles in several hours with little notice.

Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?

A: Always working on something...
