SERIES CONCEPT WIFE SEARCH USA By Frank Amobi GENRE: REALITY TV LOGLINE: A wealthy bachelor realizes that women will never love him for himself, so, while in disguise, he embarks on finding a wife. SYNOPSIS PREMISE: AN ORDINARY MAN - NOT AN ANNOUNCED MILLIONAIRE OR PRETEND MILLIONAIRE as has been seen on other "reality" TV shows. The initial profile of the man embarked upon The WIFE SEARCH is presented at the beginning of the show. It reveals him to be an attractive, appealing, good looking and honorable man; a man of moderate income but loved and admired by his coworkers and friends. TWIST IN THE STORY/ADVENTURE: The penultimate show- once a wedding proposal has been accepted by the woman he has chosen, we will reveal through a true biography that he is in actuality a multi-millionaire who is seeking a wife not influenced by his money. At the begining of each segment, there will be a revelation of a packaged gift for whoever decides to drop out for any reasons. The video of the faces of the women who chose the packaged gift rather than proceed to the next level will be priceless. It will show that (for example) rather than being the mailroom supervisor of a successful company or firm, he is actually the CEO or owner of the company/firm. PLOT: Ten young women are selected by the television show's producers and told that unlike the shows they may have seen, the man they will meet is an " ordinary" man who is sincerely and seriously looking to meet " the girl of his dreams." He is "not claiming or pretending to be a millionaire." (This, it will be revealed at the denouement, is true: he did not claim to be a millionaire - in fact, he claimed not to be. Nor was he pretending to be - in reality, he was pretending not be.) This point of interest will be revealed to the TV viewers early in the first show, so that they might follow along on the " inside gag," as it were. RATIONALE: Most famous and wealthy bachelors are afraid that a woman may be interested in them for their money and status and not for who they really are as a person. That is, of course, the reason for prenuptial agreements. An alternative - which this show offers - the ability to live in disguise, as it were, until they find the woman of their dreams who is certainly in love with them as an individual. The revelation will be an exciting and shocking moment for the woman who is chosen. If the woman who is chosen is shocked, think of the women who had chosen to drop out because they did not like his job or 'moderate' lifestyle. A video will capture their faces as they watch a closed circuit screen in a nearby room. A condition of each woman's participation is that if she dropped out,or not chosen as the bribe, she will be required to attend the wedding. DEVELOPMENT: Build a set outside a work district and hold auditions for the would-be contestants of a 'good catch' bachelor. The bachelor, watching through a two-way mirror or a monitor of some kind, chooses ten women he would like to know better. They will not see him during this selection process. The women will be divided into two groups of five contestants. At the end of each episode or segment each woman gets to decide if she will go on to the next round or accept a nice gift basket of diamond bracelets, cash, etc., and drop out.
