S.O.B.

A Texas police dispatcher adverse to guns and violence discovers that his runaway teenage daughter has been kidnapped by human traffickers. He transfers as a cop to El Paso’s vice squad on a relentless mission to find her; his journey into the heart of darkness, the S.O.B. world of “sexually oriented businesses”, and his sinister evolution into a criminal mind and a man of violence.

TOM McCLAREN, a middle-aged police dispatcher turned rookie cop in El Paso, Texas, is a morally conflicted Everyman who never found his true calling in life. He dreams of becoming a detective, yet he hates guns and has no experience of real violence. He struggles as a single dad to his rebel teenage daughter TINA, whose Hispanic mother CONSUELA was deported back to Mexico as an illegal immigrant. As a practicing Catholic, Tom is losing his faith in God and in himself...

Then his quiet, insular world is turned upside down -- his runaway daughter is kidnapped by human traffickers, plunging Tom into a complex mystery full of criminals, victims and extreme violence. He transfers to El Paso’s Vice squad on a relentless mission to find Tina. Tom reinvents himself and penetrates the savage Mexican world of S.O.B.’s -- “sexually oriented businesses”. He discovers that Tina has been sold by a sex-trafficking ring as a “wife” to a powerful, dangerous Latin American drug kingpin.

The story follows his search to find and rescue a daughter who’s fallen in love with her captor and has been brainwashed by Stockholm syndrome -- she doesn’t want to be rescued. Tom tries to deprogram Tina, but she runs away back to her drug lord. With the help of his deported wife and her corrupt Mexican police-captain lover, Tom resorts to criminal extremes to hunt Tina down and bring her home. He makes a devil’s pact with the lowest, most violent people of the underworld, including a psychotic cartel hit man. Available as both a feature script and a pilot/bible for a limited series.
