Disney Announces 2002 Television/Feature Fellows

The 2002 Television and Feature Fellows are: Liz Bartucci, Aaron Drown, Kim Duran, Edward Evans, Brenda Hsueh, Carolyn Murray, Tiffany Marie Paulsen, Shelley Smith, Markhum Stansbury, Jr., Sonya Steele, Veena Sud, and Monica Zepeda. They were welcomed at a reception hosted at the Writers Guild of America on February 21st, 2002, and will be presented at The Walt Disney Studios on April 3rd, 2002.

This year's Distinguished Executive Mentors from The Walt Disney Studios and ABC Entertainment Television Group who will work with the Writing Fellows to hone their craft are: Kristin Burr, Doug Short; Jill R. Morris, Michael Haynes, Josh Harmon, Casey Wolfe, Louanne Brickhouse - Buena Vista Motion Picture Group; Susan Lyne - ABC Movies and Mini Series; Thom Sherman, Julie Pinchuk - ABC Entertainment Drama Programming; Vicki Dummer, Richard Claflin, Glenn Adilman, Stephanie Leifer, Jada Miranda - ABC Entertainment Comedy Programming; Steve McPherson, Julia Franz, Suzanne Patmore, Francie Calfo, Josh Barry, Nina Howie, Alexandra Weinberger, Jodi Platt - Touchstone Television.

We are also please to have Elisa Todd, Director of Creative Affairs, David E. Kelley Productions, Robin Budd, Vice President of Development, The Bedford Falls Company, Tiffany Delorme, Co-Producer, ABC's "Alias" and Touchstone's "Felicity," and Ralph Farquhar, Executive Producer, The Disney Channel's "Proud Family."

The Program, which made its debut in 1990, has graduated an extraordinary number of writers who are now enjoying successful careers in television and feature film. Of this past season's Fellows (2000-01), Daniel Sussman was hired as a staff writer on "The Practice," and Dailyn Rodriquez was hired as a staff writer on ABC's new midseason "The George Lopez Show." Former Fellows include Ayanna Floyd (1999-00) is a staff writer on CBS' "Family Law," Joan Weiss is a story editor on "Gilmore Girls," Heather Hach (1999-00) was hired to write Walt Disney's remake of "Freaky Friday" plus "There's a Pop Diva Loose in the Cafeteria" for DreamWorks, and Meghan McCarthy (1999-00) sold her feature "The Bachelorette" to Universal Pictures. Tim Doyle (1990-91), is presently under an overall deal with Touchstone Television, Natalie Chaidez (1990-91), producer on "Judging Amy," Tony Puryear (1990-91), who wrote the feature "Eraser," Reggie "Rock" Bythewood (1990-91), wrote and directed "Dancing in September" for HBO, Jacquelyn C. Edmonds (1991-92), was the co-executive producer on "Moesha," Malcolm Lee (1992-93), writer/director of the hit movie, "The Best Man," Jane Espenson (1992-93), is producer on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Luisa Leschin (1995-96), staff writer for "Brothers Garcia" for Nickelodeon, Sue Paige and Daniel Paige, (1996-97), co-executive producers on ABC's "Once and Again," and Saladin Patterson (1996-97), is co-producer on NBC's "Frasier."
