A humble Afro-American zoo employee, and would be poet, experiences an electric shock that causes him to smell like chocolate. The smell also pacifies strangers that smell him.

Chocolate Man is a spoof on all superhero movies. The Afro-American hero is a would-be poet who has been unsuccessful at getting the attention of a great poet and publisher. He suffers a severe electrical shock that causes him to smell like chocolate. The smell pacifies most people who smell him. He initially uses his "power" to gain fans for his poetry, but realizes that the admiration he gains is not honest, so he must find a way to present his poetry to live audiences without his power,
