Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?

A: KIDNAPPING CASTRO - by Allen Cody Taube

Three ex-special forces marines kidnap Fidel Castro.

How hard can it be to find the real aging dictator, smuggle him out of Cuba, resist the tempations of a beautiful Latina, and auction him off on e-bay to the highest bidder, all before he dies of an inoperable brain tumor?

Hard action/comedy. 111 pages info@reefchief.com

Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?

A: Main reason was the offer of representation. Kidnapping Castro has also won best action screenplay at Key West Independent Film Festival 2003 and Telluride Independent Film Festival, 2002 also the finalist in three other contests and film festivals.

Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?

A: Saw my name and screenplay title listed on their website. That was all.

Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?

A: No feedback from this contest. The best feedback I've received was coverage from Red Inkworks contest on this script.

Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?

A: Not particular marketing help from this contest.

Three of my screenplays have won a total of 9 other screenplay competitions and film festivals in just over a year. I have optioned one and have been contacted by ICM and WM MORRIS as well as a lot of producers, directors and a few agents requesting to read my screenplays as a result of contest and film festival successes.

Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?

A: I have written five screenplays and am finishing a sixth. Also two shorts and two short stage plays.

Self taught, never have taken any college writing classes besides a one day workshop on screenwriting format taught by the late Cliff Gardner.

I read screenplays voraciously usually from JoBlo, Daily Scrip, Zoetrope and Drew's.

My full time job is a charter schooner captain/owner of schooner Reef Cief in Key West Florida.

Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?

A: I live in Key West Florida, but might consider sailing to Los Angeles if that's what's happening.

Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?

A: Several scripts in the works, right at this moment, I am co-writing a screenplay with Robin Bradford - this one is a psych thriller about a rape victim and an artist who cannot speak, called SKETCH ARTIST, a very moving and engrossing story.
