An interview with screenwriter Diana Kemp-Jones regarding the Valley International Writing Competition.

Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?

A: Urchin explores the relationship between an embittered WWII veteran and a mysterious little boy.

Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?

A: Valley International accepted short screenplays. Urchin has done extremely well. Writers Place competition, second in An Abbreviated Screenplay competition and as a quarter-finalist in the Bare Bones screenplay competition.

Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?

A: Valley was excellent. Very professional and organized.

Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?

A: No feedback in this case.

Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?

A: Will be attending the nominee reception and gala awards dinner, so hope to make some connections there.

Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?

A: I've been writing since the age of seven, so this is really a culmination of what I've always loved to do. I have several other short scripts that have placed well in competitions.

Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?

A: Yes, I'm a resident of LA.

Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?

A: Working on four as we speak -- so much for focus!
