Screenwriter Interviews

MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Madeleine Gran

An interview with screenwriter Madeleine Gran regarding the Gimme Credit Writing Competition.

Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?

A: "The Umbrella Facist" is a dark comedy about a posh gentleman and his misadventures with his oversized umbrella.

Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?

A: Gimme Credit is great because they have a super short script contest. Not many have that. My script is not entered to any other contests.

Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?

A: The administration was great. No problems with their deadlines and my awards are in the mail :)

Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?

A: They provided me with feedback and it's always helpful.

Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?

A: My script is only two pages long, but I'm sure it will get produced. I'll see to that.

Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?

A: I'm writing a feature now. I have also written several shorts and super shorts. One supershort got produced and won two film fests in Oslo, Norway (where I'm originally from). It was also aired on national television.

Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?

A: I live in NYC. I would go to LA any day - but I love New York too.

Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?

A: I'm writing a 4th draft on my feature (drama). Soon it will be ready to submit. I'm very exited because I have had such good teachers and mentors to help me in the process.
