Screenwriter Interviews
MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Dale Moore
An interview with screenwriter Dale Moore regarding the true independent Writing Competition.
Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?A: "One of the Enemy" It's about a family and the effects of abuse and racism over the generations. In the South in 1940 a chance meeting between a young white boy and a gentle black man sets in motion a chain of events that will for decades plague their families, questions their beliefs and force them to do things they never thought possible.
Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?A: This was the first contest I entered this script in. I basically wanted to get my feet wet and see what kind of response I would get with a script that has a wonderful story but a difficult subject matter.
I entered it on the CinamaSpoke screenwriting contest and took first place.
A: In general I am. I received the screenwriting software. I have yet to receive the script coverage as promised.
Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?A: Like I said, part of the prize was coverage of the script. I have yet to receive it. The promised coverage was part of the reason I entered the contest, so it is a disappointment in that regard.
Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?A: It didn't help me market my script and no one has contacted me. I think part of the reason may have been my email address was never posted (even though there is a blind link for it). In addition, a log line and synopsis was never posted (even though I emailed them one as requested).
Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?A: I graduated from Webster University with a degree in Media Communication with an emphasis in Scriptwriting. I have been writing ever since. I have written six screenplays and four television script.
Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?A: I live in Saint Louis at the moment. I would move to Los Angeles in a heartbeat if the finances allowed (school loans, you know).
Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?A: I'm always working on a script. If not, I'm in the library or some other place researching, acquiring knowledge, or just observing. All in hopes of stumbling across the next idea.
