Screenwriter Interviews
MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Samantha Lavin
An interview with screenwriter Samantha Lavin regarding the Spec Scriptacular Writing Competition.
Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?A: I entered a Becker and a Queer as Folk spec script. QUAF came in 2nd and Becker came in 3rd!
Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?A: The Becker Spec came in 3rd last year at the Acclaim TV writing competition. This was the first time I submitted the Queer as Folk spec.
Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?A: Yes.
Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?A: No.
Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?A: Not yet.
Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?A: I've written two other sitcom specs (which have been finalists in Scriptapalooza) and two feature screenplays (one which was a finalist at OUTfest).
Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?A: Yes. I moved here a year ago from New York and what a good move that was! I love NY, but the business is definetely here in LA.
Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?A: Always! I can't stop writing, I love it. I am doing a rewrite on one of the feature scripts and am going to write another 1 hour dramatic spec.
