Screenwriter Interviews

MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Diana Jones

An interview with screenwriter Diana Jones regarding the Gimme Credit Writing Competition.

Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?

A: Gutter Soul -

In Earth's dark future, youth is a hot commodity. Business is brisk for ruthless black marketeer O'Neill, who sells his precious youth serum to select customers--that is, until he becomes the target of a client set to avenge her sister's death.

Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?

A: As I'm a prolific writer, I prefer dealing with short scripts and thus seek out any competition that considers them. Gutter Soul also took first place in the last Blood Candy short screenplay competition.

Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?

A: So far so good on all counts. Blood Candy were great to deal with and I'm also very impressed with Gimme Credit.

Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?

A: I've only just been notified about my win but am looking forward to any feedback that will improve my craft.

Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?

A: I hope exposure from this win will open some doors for me.

Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?

A: I've been writing science fiction and horror since I was seven - and still have the yellow, crinkled manuscripts complete with teacher comments. I have several published fiction books but my main focus is short screenplays. I have several other short screenplays entered in various competitions.

Trapezoid, a short science fiction script, came in as a Gimme Credit semi-finalist. In addition, it placed third in the last Blood Candy short screenplay competition.

Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?

A: I do live in the Los Angeles area.

Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?

A: More screenplays - one in progress and others lined up after that.
