An interview with screenwriter Ronald Vincent regarding the A Feeding Frenzy Writing Competition.
Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?A: Shake. is the title and it tells the story of a former gang member who attends UCLA in Shakespeare studies. His mentor dies and leaves him a library which contains, unknown to anyone, the original manuscript to Shakespeare's Hamlet. Antonio and Marie, his girlfriend, attempt to verify the authenticity of the manuscript while dodging a group of thugs who are determined to seize the play.
Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?A: I like the feedback from the readers at A Feeding Frenzy. They always focus on the heart of a story. The script is also currently entered in Writers on the Storm, Bluecat, and the Nicholls. Oh yes, also Page international.
Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?A: Utterly satisfied. A Feeding Frenzy is a class act. They met every deadline and deliver on every promise.
Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?A: I received feedback and found it exceptionally useful.
Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?A: I have received contacts from several producers and have sent out copies of the script.
Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?A: I currently teach writing to first generation college bound students. Shake. is my seventh screenplay and I am currently writing the 8th.
Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?A: I live in Northern California and as a consequence am only one hour out of LA by air. If the right opportunity occurred, I woud relocate.
Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?A: I should have script number eight done by early July. I've learned that a script in one sense is never really done. Rewriting is an essential and critical part of the craft.
