Screenwriter Interviews

MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Louis Farley

An interview with screenwriter Louis Farley regarding the Gimme Credit Writing Competition.

Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?

A: Guts - An exclusive community, a taunting wife, an angry husband with a high powered rifle, a bitter argument, a worried neighbor... this can't end well.

Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?

A: GCSC offered a short and super short category. I've entered two other contests with this script but haven't heard yet from one and the other I didn't place.

Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?

A: Yes, yes and yes.

Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?

A: Yes. I think feedback on creative work is often subjective. In one contest I had a script win Best TV Pilot while in another contest it didn't even make it as a finalist.

Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?

A: Not yet.

Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?

A: My background is eclectic. My day jobs have included: accountant, Certified Alcoholism Counselor, computer programmer & network manager, darkroom tech and visual artist (www.reedfarley.com & www.zazzle.com/_rfah_).

I've written two feature length scripts, a TV Comedy Pilot, a television treatment for the pilot and numerous short stories.

Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?

A: No. Considering.

Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?

A: I'm working on my 3rd feature and 4 other short scripts. And, of course, a novel (who isn't!?).
