The Richmond International Film Festival (RIFF) is a competitive festival that accepts features and shorts of all genres and niches (films & screenplays).
The festival highlights both the emerging and professional filmmaker, and serves as a catalyst for bringing writers & filmmakers together to collaborate on future film productions. The festival takes place at the historic Byrd Theatre in Richmond, VA February 28-March 3rd, 2012 where it brings national and international filmmakers to Richmond for an exciting week of film screenings of the Official Selection films and writers competing for top awards, industry panels and networking events, Q & A discussions, arts & entertainment mixers at local venues throughout the week, with the festival closing out at the Red Carpet Awards ceremony.

Over $20,000 awarded in cash and prizes, plus all entrants receive a $95 membership to the Media Industry Xchange. Several awards are given in overall main categories for film and screenplays as well as Outstanding Merit Awards, Best Actress/Best Actor, Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Music/Score.
Grand Jury Winners - Screenplays
This is awarded to the overall best feature screenplay and short screenplay. The best feature script will receive $750 cash and the best short script will receive $500 cash. Plus, each will receive: Sony Vegas Pro Software (valued at $600), Special Recognition Trophy, SellaScript Promotional Package, and 1 Year Preferred Membership to the Media Industry Xchange.

Audience Choice Award
Audience top choice for feature film and short film will receive a award certificate
Additional Awards - Screenplays
The following will receive heavy industry promotion to A-list companies and various other agents and producers we work with, plus receive an award certificate, a Preferred Media Industry Xchange membership, free entry into all festival events, and a SellaScript promotional package: Top script in each of the main four genres (Horror/Thriller/Fantasy, Drama/Family, Comedy, Action/Adventure)
Additional Awards - Film
The following will receive an award certificate for best in a feature or short film: Best Director, Best Cinematographer, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Music/Score
Official Selection and Top Screenplays
All Official Selection filmmakers and the top 5 scripts (feature & short) will receive a Preferred Media Industry Xchange membership for a period of one year
Outstanding Merit Awards
Two awards, if applicable, will be given to the most inspiring writer or filmmaker who best utilizes film as a medium to create awareness, social change, or bring a unique perspective to any one topic.
*PRODUCTION AWARD OPPORTUNITY: See the website for details regarding the free category for the Production Award. The winning writer & filmmaker's project will be filmed in the winter of 2012, & premiere at the festival in Feb.
