Objective

One screenplay and up to ten short films will win $500 each!

As filmmakers, we know that outside of the film festival circuit, most shorts will die a lonely death in the bowels of the interwebs. So to help amazing shorts get the audience they deserve, we’re creating "Grave Intentions: An Anthology of Chills, Thrills, and Kills."

And your film could be a part of it!

If your short would be at home on The Twilight Zone, Tales From the Crypt, The Outer Limits, or Creep Show, we want to see it. Basically, we’re looking for anything that broadly fits the horror genre, including suspense, thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, supernatural, etc.

Up to 10 films will win $500 each and be included in "Grave Intentions," a feature length anthology with a creepy hostess, which will be distributed worldwide.

In addition to the $500, we also plan to award the winning filmmakers bonuses at various profit milestones for the anthology.

So if you want the chance to win at least 500 bucks and have your film shared with audiences around the world, submit to us now!

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!

Since we’re screenwriters as well, we know how tough it is to get recognition for short screenplays, so we’re also hosting a contest to find great short scripts in this same horror-ish genre.

The winning screenplay will get $500, with the potential for Death Cat Entertainment to produce the script into a short film for the next volume of "Grave Intentions."

So if you have a script that will make us turn on all the lights and check under the bed, submit now for the chance to win 500 smackers and the possibility of seeing your script come to life!

Finally, when “Grave Intentions” is released in October of 2018, we’ll celebrate with a live screening event in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina!

"Grave Intentions" will be produced by Death Cat Entertainment, LLC. This organization is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.

  • All winners will be announced on April 15, 2018.
  • There are no restrictions on the creation date of the films or screenplays, so if you don’t have something new, dust off your masterpiece and send it our way!
  • All judging decisions are final.
  • Submitters must be 18 years of age or older (or have your parent or guardian submit on minors behalf).
  • Failure to comply with guidelines, rules, regulations, and eligibility is cause for disqualification. Entry fees are non-refundable.

SCREENPLAYS
  • Screenplays should be 15 pages or less (excluding title page).
  • Screenplays must be in English.
  • Screenplays should be in standard industry format.
  • Our judges are looking for creative and well-written screenplays that broadly fit within the horror genre. An engaging story is essential, but our judges will also score screenplays based on strong characterization, tight pacing, believable dialog, and originality.
  • This is a competition, with only one screenplay winning the prize.
  • Screenplays must be the original work of the submitter. Writing teams are permitted, but only one $500 prize will be awarded.
  • The best screenplay will win the $500 prize, but there are several factors that will determine whether Death Cat Entertainment moves forward with producing that winning script, including complexity of the script and the amount of funding Death Cat Entertainment can secure for the project.
  • Representatives of Death Cat Entertainment will contact the winner to discuss potentially producing the script for the next volume of "Grave Intentions."
See website for FILM rules and guidelines.
