Objective
The comedy platform Short Com are pleased to announce the return of their popular TV Sitcom Writing Competition for the fourth consecutive year in a row. The competition aims to find the best new and emerging comedy writing talent. Judging the quality of writing first ahead of whether a script has a really marketable idea.
Founder Chris Aitken states ‘Over the course of the past three editions, we’ve beensuper impressed by the number of quality writers out there. It’s an incredibly tough industry to break into. Thus we hope that our competition can help shine a light on some of the best writing talent that can do with a boost in their quest in either getting representation or a development deal. Rules
Please send a PDF copy of your script to info@shortcom.org with the title of your sitcom in the subject line along with a one page pitch of your sitcom idea as a separate PDF. Submissions are quickly screened first to deem whether they qualify for entry. Once verified, you will be asked to make payment of the entry fee either by bank transfer, Paypal or Wise. Paypal transactions may include an extra small charge to cover handling fees. If you could also please let us know of your location. This is so that we may be able to put you forward for the consideration of locally based producers.
There are three options for entering. Standard feedback that includes a minimum of one page of feedback. A no feedback option. Or an extended feedback option. This is a recommended option for fairly new writers to screenwriting. If we are that impressed with a writer's script who has opted for feedback and we feel there's not a lot that we can say, we will offer a partial refund.

All scripts that make the final shortlist are inducted into THE SHORT LIST page and touted to the industry.
