The UCLA Extension Feature Film and Television Writing Competitions give students the opportunity to receive recognition for screenplays developed in the Writers' Program courses. From the initial scripts submitted to the competition, three finalists will receive in-depth mentoring prior to a final round of industry judging, cash prizes, and guaranteed reads by an agent, manager, producer or creative executive.
Notification: First round, June 2013; Final Round, September 2013.
Each applicant will be required to complete an online application form for each contest that he or she wishes to enter. Each application form lists the specific rules and eligibility requirements therein for that specific contest. Upon completion of the form, applicants must mail a signed instructor verification form (available on the webpage listed above) and two hard copies of the script to: UCLA Extension Screenplay Competition, c/o The Writers' Program, 10995 Le Conte Ave, Suite 440, Los Angeles, CA 90024. In addition, applicants must e-mail an additional copy of the script (in PDF format) to firstname.lastname@example.org. All entries must be received by Friday, March 1, 2013 at 4:00 PM, PST. The entry fee (payable to ''UC Regents'') should be mailed separately along with a payment form (available on the contest page) to: UCLA Extension, Department K, P.O. Box 24901, Los Angeles, CA 90024. Only completed applications received on or before the deadline will be considered.
