We actively push the Semifinalists, Finalists, Runners-Up and Winners for a full year with the intention of creating opportunities for the writers. We are a hands on competition because we feel it is important to continue supporting the top scripts beyond the cash and prizes.
We are proud to present the competition with Write Brothers, a company that not only provides the necessary tools for writing but is an advocate and true supporter of emerging writers.
Also, we are supported by the Writers Guild of America west and the Writers Guild of Canada.
Notification: August 15

How did you come up with your story idea?
Bad luck with women, tons of sugar products, and really bad luck with women.
How long did it take you to write it?
I've had rough notes on scattered pieces of paper for over 2-3 years... then one day I picked it up, and bounced ideas off a few friends. The writing process itself only took maybe a couple of months to where I was happy with it.
Is this your first script that you have written?
Nope... This is my second feature. I also have 3 television pilots and SEVERAL short film scripts.
Have you entered other screenwriting competitions? If so, have you been successful?
This was my first.
Why did you enter Scriptapalooza?
I loved the way Scriptapalooza layed everything out on the table. 37 great contacts that will read your script... a big time cash prize to the first place winner (Congrats to Christopher)...some great sponsors.
Advice to other screenwriters?
WRITE! Watch tons and tons of movies (good and bad). Read tons and tons of books (good and bad). Carry a notepad around with you and write down everything that inspires you. Some random brain fart may be useful down the road.
Are you excited to use your new software from Screenplay Systems?
I already use Movie Magic Screenwriter. It is the BEST on the market. I can't wait to try out the rest on my next feature.
How did you feel when you saw your name as one of the winners?
Are you kidding me? It took a few days to calm down after finding my name in the SEMI’S! I think now is when it is starting to sink in and I couldn't be happier.
