Contest News
Rod Serling Short Script Contest Winners Announced
Ithaca College has announced the winners of the Rod Serling
Short Feature Scriptwriting Competition. Awards were officially
given out at the Rod Serling Conference on April 22, 2006.
The contest was designed to provide an opportunity for
non-professional writers to honor Serling’s work by creating their
own original script. Entrants were challenged to maintain the
horror/science fiction genre while infusing their story with a
strong social theme.
The winner was Paula Smith from Lenexa, KS for her script, “The Donor,” about a prisoner who volunteers for a near death experiment for special treatment.
Nelson Kim from New York, NY placed second for “Dead Man's Morphine.” The script that featured a young heroin addict who wakes up in a hospital and can’t remember how he got there.
Third place was awarded to Elliot Feedore from Glenmont, NY for “Time Will Tell,” a story of an old man who is released from prison in 2056 only to confront himself in 2006 and unintentionally provoke him to commit a crime that jailed him in the first place.
