Objective

The purpose of the Big Apple Film Festival Short Script Competition is to discover an engaging, innovative and purposeful short script to develop and produce into a short film that will premiere at the 2018 Big Apple Film Festival. An additional 4 finalists will receive cash awards and complimentary full access badges to the 2018 Big Apple Film Festival.

Rules

SHORT SCREENPLAY COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONS:
  1. Big Apple Film Festival Screenplay Competition only accepts short scripts 10 pages or under.
  2. Scripts must be character and dialogue driven with NO special effects or significant action sequences.
  3. The Grand Prize winning short script will be produced by Big Apple Film Festival, therefore, the festival reserves the right to make ANY and ALL necessary changes for budgetary reasons.
  4. Submitted screenplays can not have been optioned, purchased, or otherwise produced at the time of submission.
  5. Writers can submit as many screenplays as they’d like to the competition, however each script requires a separate application and payment.
  6. All entries must be submitted in English.
  7. Submissions must include the title, author(s) and any relevant registration or copyright information.
  8. Screenplays must be submitted in PDF or MS WORD.
  9. All screenplays are considered complete once they are received by the Big Apple Film Festival. No revisions or updated copies will be accepted.
  10. Submission fees are non-refundable.
  11. By submitting your script for consideration for the Big Apple Film Festival Screenplay Competition, you agree for Big Apple Film Festival, LLC to produce your short screenplay IF selected as the Grand Prize Winner and to premiere at the Big Apple Film Festival in New York City.
  12. All screenplay submissions must be character and dialogue driven with NO special effects or significant action sequences. The Grand Prize winning short script will be produced by Big Apple Film Festival, therefore, the festival reserves the right to make ANY and ALL necessary changes for budgetary reasons. Additionally, Big Apple Film Festival has full decision making in casting, hiring of crew, equipment to be used, and all other aspects of production. BIG APPLE FILM FESTIVAL OWNS ALL RIGHTS TO THE COMPLETED FILM.
