He is currently Chair of the Review Board of Ontario which oversees the custody of mentally ill offenders. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Justice Schneider was a criminal defense lawyer and a clinical psychologist. He has published extensively in the area of mental disorder his latest book - Death of a Butterfly describes the day to day events in a mental health court. The two authors are the leading experts on the McNaughton case which forms the basis for this screenplay.
