The Healer

A down-on-his-luck trauma ward surgeon is given a limitless power to heal by an enigmatic stranger, but there's one catch: He must kill one person every 30 days in order to maintain it.

Dr. Benjamin "Ben" Jindal is having more than just a bad day, a bad week, a bad streak. And, after losing his 13th straight patient on the operating table, the gifted young surgeon begins to fear that he's lost the touch altogether. The power of healing seems to escape him at every turn in the busy trauma ward where he works.

After a drunken night of self-pity leads to a brutal bar room fight, Ben ends up bloodied, beaten, and left for dead in a dark alley.

Enter, Mr. Nance. A mysterious man who pulls up in a limo and not only magically heals Ben in seconds, but seemingly grants him an unlimited power to heal others, sometimes with little more than the touch of his hand.

Ben returns to work and ends his streak with a flourish, saving the lives of a group of gang bangers critically injured in a drive-by. But this new magic touch comes with a price tag, a tithing that needs offering up to the gods: One human life must be taken every 30 days in order to maintain it.

But Ben's no killer, so, after some brief soul searching and quick thinking, he recruits the gangsta's leader to assist him in this series of carefully planned assassinations which are to be dictated from a list by Mr. Nance once a month.

Ben continues his miraculous work, healing at such a rate that it begins to alarm the hospital's hierarchy which includes a trusted colleague, Patrick Kimble, and the shady pharmaceutical CEO, Jasper Van Dyne.

But even more troubling for Ben is the fact that he can't seem to make a difference in the life of his son, Gregory, stricken with cancer and barely hanging on. Mr. Nance assures him that once he completes the list of seven, he will have the necessary power to cure him. But will young Gregory even last that long?

As doubt creeps in, not to mention his conscience over the string of killings, Ben resiliently continues on with his mission. But as the cops begin putting the facts together, a startling incongruity is revealed: All of Ben's victims seem to have been dedicated and deeply spiritual men of peace and healing themselves.

Is Ben on the wrong path? As his powers and influence reach the height of "God Consciousness", he leaves the hospital and starts his own wellness center in the countryside, drawing dedicated crowds numbering in the hundreds of thousands. With the media spotlight glowing as brightly as his near omnipotent power, Ben must track down the last victim on the list. With his son's life hanging in the balance, the cops closing in, not to mention a shadowy hitman hired by Van Dyne breathing down his neck, his friend Patrick races to put the facts together and hopefully sort out the mystery of Mr. Nance's ulterior motives in time.

Will Ben be a messiah or a martyr? Or both?

The HEALER.

Sacrifices have to be made.
