SLAVE PATROL

A runaway slave must evade an evil posse of undead bloodsuckers and rescue his family from the plantation master, a powerful vampire out for revenge.

In 1830's Louisiana, the air is thick with rebellion and Edwin Thrasher has heard the calling.

A proud and defiant slave on the brutal sugar plantation of one Nikolai Van Diemen, he soon becomes the focal point of a potential uprising, and once the plot is uncovered, he is quickly led to the gallows and fitted for a noose.

But the hanging is interrupted when the slave revolt itself breaks out, Edwin dramatically rescued by a roving band of his fellow rebels.

The insurrection is swiftly put down by Van Diemen and his men, but not before the entire plantation burns to the ground in a carefully orchestrated attack. Edwin narrowly escapes, riding off into the swamp land to avoid the militias.

Back on the blackened ruins of the plantation grounds, Van Diemen is left to simmer in his rage and survey the damage. His family dead, his crops destroyed, most of the slaves either escaped or killed, he is soon consumed by another fire, this one from within his tortured soul. Van Diemen is hungry for more than just revenge, he's out for blood... literally.

For little does Edwin know, his former master is of the immortal undead variety, and now very hellbent on exacting a vengeance of epic proportions. The long dormant thirst within Van Diemen was long sated through a carefully practiced series of psychic vampire protocols, so that he could refrain from actually drinking blood and more readily blend into proper society. But now, with the slaves no longer around to harvest pranic energy from, he suffers an allergic reaction and goes full vampire, morphing into a hideous winged half-bat monster at will, and engorging himself on the remaining plantation workers in a series of horrifyingly depraved blood feasts.

He and his henchmen then cruelly use half of the rounded-up slaves to feed on while keeping the others as bait, among them Edwin's wife and children. And as Van Diemen feeds, he recharges, using his vast psychic energies like some sort of vampiric GPS to home in on the fleeing Edwin.

As the runaway slave ventures further into the wetlands, hunted and hounded by the militia, he is aided by the mysterious and beautiful Natalia, a budding sorceress with her own agenda, and the two take refuge in a maroon colony of other fugitive slaves.

But the rest is short lived and the sanctuary soon threatened as Van Diemen dispatches his own breed of slave patrol, comprised of fellow bloodsuckers and led by the sadistic Markham, his right-hand man.

With the maroon colony under siege, a battle royale ensues, Edwin and Natalia skillfully teaming up with Dr. Maximilian Von Elsanger, a distinguished vampire hunter on his way into town after being hired by the other plantation owners who had grown increasingly suspicious of Van Diemen over the years.

And while Van Diemen puts down a power play from the scheming sugar cartel with another round of bloodletting, Edwin, Natalia, and Von Elsanger, are off to a remote Spanish mission to locate the one person who knows Van Diemen's secrets and more importantly how to kill him.

They call her "Mrs. Mercydear", once a missionary in foreign lands, and once Van Diemen's wife, she alone knows the only way to vanquish him. It's a mythic tale that she relates to them which centers around a sword, a powerful talisman of possible divine provenance once used to slay Vlad the Impaler himself on the battlefields of Wallachia and passed down through the ages to end up in the capable hands of one Andrew Jackson for "The Battle of New Orleans".

As Markham and the slave patollers intensify their efforts, the trio of fugitives are off to the Big Easy where the sword is being presented back to now President Jackson in a special ceremony lorded over by Van Diemen himself.

As new slaves are brought in, the plantation rises again, and the dastardly sugar baron's vampiric power grows, Edwin and his team must steal the sword, fend off the last of the slave patrol and return to the scene of the initial insurrection to save his wife and children, not to mention the president from an apparent assassination attempt.

The stage is set for a showdown between master and servant that may just affect the balance of power and redefine a bloodline for generations to come.

Slave Patrol.

From the blood of tyrants, freedom always comes home to roost.

"Cinematic Quality: very good, Quality of Writing: excellent. This is one of the best scripts I have read... The characters, dialogue and actions seems to meld perfectly together, giving the story that little something extra that most unproduced scripts don't have. It felt like I was reading a professional script from a produced movie. I also really liked the way you ended it.
