Finalists Announced for Ohio Independent Screenplay Awards
Independent Pictures (IP) has announced the finalists for the 2005 Ohio Independent
Screenplay Awards, the organization's ten-year-old screenplay competition. This year
marks the fifth year for the organization's Best Voice of Color Award, which highlights the
writing achievements from a screenwriter whose voice, story and characters speak to
generally marginalized audiences.
Honorable Mentions this year go to "Asphalt Prairie" by David Boito, "Hopper" by Cem
Aydogan, "Wisteria" by Edward Pannozzo, and "A Four Sided Triangle" by Shirley Ware.
The finalists for IP's Best Voice of Color Screenplay are "Best of the Second Raters" by
Jacqueline Frazier, "Midnights and Monkeys" by Melissa Carleton Mcleod, and "Micheaux"
by Bart Sumner.
The finalists for IP's Best Northcoast Screenplay are "The Greatest Thing Since Sliced
Bread" by Betty Gabrielli, "Slayer of Clocks" by Camille LaGuire, and "Three's a Charm" by
Tom Smolko.
The finalists for IP's Best Screenplay are "What the Postman Knows" by Dorine Rivers,
"Houdini's Greatest Tricks" by Glen Freyer, and "Song of Myself" by Ryan Reed.
