Categories
Objective
Personal coverage and feedback from programmers and readers on your screenplay will be available to every screenplay entrant. Cash prizes are awarded in each of three categories: Best Screenplay, Best Voice of Color Screenplay (written by or about people of color), and Best Northcoast Screenplay (set in or about northern Ohio).

An entry form and and entry fee must accompany each entry. One entry fee puts your screenplays in all the categories to which it qualifies.
Awards
Cash prizes are awarded in each of three categories: Best Screenplay, Best Voice of Color Screenplay (written by or about people of color), and Best Northcoast Screenplay (set in or about northern Ohio). $500 each winner.

Ohio Competition Announces Finalists
Cleveland, Ohio-Congratulations to the finalists for the Ohio Independent
Screenplay Awards (OISA)! The finalists for Best Screenplay are "Miss
Claudine's Blues" by Gwen Wright, "Under the Coca-Cola Sign" by Chesley Chen,
and "The Wincala" by Bonnie Silva. The finalists for Best Northcoast
Screenplay (majority set in Cleveland) are "Fighting Chance" by Shawn K.
Judge, "Small Things Considered" by Karyn Usher, and "Chasing Joe DiMaggio"
by Tim Tyler.
The OISA has proven to be an extremely challenging contest! Our
finalists scored perfect or close to perfect scores in the first round of
judging, and are currently being read for final judging by Hollywood
producers Patrick Markey ("The Horse Whisperer") and Laura Friedman ("House
Arrest"). Winners will be announced late October 1999.
Awards include $1,000.00 cash, submission to Kimber Wheeler-literary
agent at Preferred Artists in West Hollywood, submission to the literary
department at Gold Marshak Liedtke and Associates in Burbank, CA, a
subscription to Scenario Magazine, submission to a talent
management/production company in Los Angeles, script analysis from the
Hollywood producers, and an unstaged screenplay reading (professionally
directed and cast) at Script Mill, the OIFF's Screenplay Reading Program (to
be held on November 2, 1999 in conjunction with the 1999 OIFF & Market).
The Ohio Independent Screenplay Awards is a program of the Ohio
Independent Film Festival (OIFF). The program's major sponsor is Greater
Cleveland's Film Commission. Other sponsors include the Writers Guild of
America East, IMI Talent Management, and Scenario Magazine.
