Objective

The Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) animation writing program for both film and television identifies and develops an inclusive pool of talent with unique points of view that build upon UFEG’s commitment to telling stories and creating narratives that appeal to and reflect the vast diversity of our audiences. During the one-year paid program, Global Talent Development & Inclusion (GTDI) will partner with animation divisions such as but not limited to, DreamWorks Animation and Illumination, to work closely with writers in enhancing their creative process in feature and TV animation.

Applicants have the option to submit writing samples for a program that includes Television for Preschool 3-5 and Kids 6-11 and Feature Film. Show More

Awards

Selected participants will have the opportunity to write animated features and TV. These different tracks cater to different audience demographics and the respective UFEG creative executives’ varying sensibilities.

Selected writers will demonstrate their skillset through writing exercises including but not limited to scripts based on pre-existing DreamWorks series, an original pilot, and an original feature film treatment.

Additionally, selected writers will have the opportunity to sit in on writer rooms and contribute creatively to active animated projects produced by UFEG business units.

The number of writers selected can vary from year to year.

If selected, writers will be compensated with a non-negotiable salary of $75,000.00 annualized.
