Objective
The best visual effects in the universe count for nothing if a story doesn’t have a world or characters that we care about. It takes unrestrained imagination to explore new worlds and character connections through timeless fantasy and awe-inspiring science fiction, and the best scripts in these genres are nothing short of magical. Whether you’re writing a contained science fiction drama, epic fantasy saga, or anything in-between, we want to read your feature screenplay or TV pilot!
ScreenCraft has relationships with sci-fi & fantasy heavyweights that include Scott Free Productions, 21 Laps, HBO Max, Netflix, and countless others. Past ScreenCraft winners have gone on to sell their scripts to major studios and have been hired by companies like Universal, Netflix, Amazon, AMC, Apple TV+ to name a few. Show More

ScreenCraft Names Sci-Fi Contest Winner
Pandorium by Graham Parke has been selected as the winner of the 2017 ScreenCraft Sci-Fi Screenplay Competition. The script - an original, high-concept time travel odyssey - features a compelling father/daughter relationship at its core, and centers on a young scientist who discovers a way to track time travelers. When the scientist is arrested on hacking charges, he is recruited by a shadowy organization to help capture the world’s inaugural time traveler ... and the strange girl who springs his trap turns out to know more about his mother's disappearance than she should.
Harvest Season by Matthew Johnston has been deemed the runner-up. Evocative, dark and tense, the script tells the following story: when an extraterrestrial being lands near an Amish community, a troubled, unwed and recently pregnant young woman discovers that it's there for her unborn baby and must fight to save the both of them.
The following screenplays were selected as the competition finalists:
- The Fairy King by Steven Snell
- Extraction by Martijn Smits
- Red Winter by Evan McNamara
- The Cargo by Billie Jo Mason
- Persephone by Chris Kappel
- Automatic by Jonathan W.C. Mills
- Aquarianna by Brian Young
- Rendezvous by Michael Leung
Grand prize winner Parke will receive a $2,000 cash prize and hand-picked industry consultations, while Johnston will receive $500 and will have his script circulated and recommended to ScreenCraft’s network of over 60 managers, agents, producers and development executives. All semifinalists will receive a 50% discount to WriterDuet Pro.
