Objective

The 15th Annual Creative World Awards (CWA) is an international screenwriting contest that is well known for having the writer's interest at heart when it comes to development and industry promotion.

Production: CWA brings an exciting production opportunity to the Grand Prize Winner. This year’s winner will have the options of a short version of their script being produced by The MIX, and the film will then get a guaranteed premiere at the Richmond International Film Festival. The writer will receive imdb credit, and the short will be used to help promote the GPW’s feature script.

CWA has built relationships with some of the industry's leading companies such as Lionsgate/Mandate International, GreeneStreet Films, Crystal Sky, Icon Films & Entertainment, Voltage Pictures, and more - all of which get first looks at the top winners. Show More

Awards

Special thanks to the CWA sponsors for helping line up a fantastic prize package worth over $30,000 in cash and prizes, including the opportunity for the Grand Prize Winner to receive a production award with imdb credit.

CWA is known for placing special emphasis on ways to bring writers more opportunities for publicity and production. In conjunction with The Moving Image Xchange and Richmond International Film Festival, CWA offers the Grand Prize Winner the opportunity to have a short version of their winning script produced. The film gets a guaranteed premiere at the Richmond International Film Festival, which gives the writer official imdb credit, festival entry, and more.

Additionally, for the short screenplay category winner, should the winner get the script produced, that film will also be awarded as Official Selection into the Richmond International Film Festival, and get a guaranteed premiere. CWA awards many prizes across several categories for features, shorts, and television, so please see the website for a complete listing.

The annual Creative World Awards is more than a competition; it's a platform to further refine your work, develop your craft, and get your foot in the door.

Contest News

MovieBytes Interview:
Screenwriter Diana Mitchell

An interview with screenwriter Diana Mitchell regarding the Creative World Writing Competition.

Q: What's the title of the script you entered in this contest, and what's it about?

A: "Pippa's Song" won grand prize. It's the true story of a terminally ill journalist who embarks on an extrordinary journey that alters her fate and leaves an indelible mark on humanity.

Q: What made you enter this particular contest? Have you entered any other contests with this script? If so, how did you do?

A: I sensed a genuine sincerity and true professionalism by this script competition to help aspiring writers. Yes, this script was also a finalist in the 2008 Moondance International Film Festival.

Q: Were you satisfied with the adminstration of the contest? Did they meet their deadlines? Did you receive all the awards that were promised?

A: The administration of this contest was extremely professional from entry and beyond. The founders, Heather and Marlene, never hesitated to assist with questions or advice. All deadlines and awards were promptly met.

Q: Were you given any feedback on your script? If so, did you find the feedback helpful?

A: Yes, and it is always valuable insight.

Q: Has your success in this contest helped you market your script? Were you contacted by any agents, managers or producers?

A: Absolutely. CWA sent my script to known producers and/or production companies. There has since been interest from producers in LA and New York.

Q: What's your background? Have you written any other screenplays or television scripts?

A: Marketing and advertising. I wrote a television pilot several years ago that generated interest from The London Film Group. I have written several other screenplays as well.

Q: Do you live in Los Angeles? If not, do you have any plans to move there?

A: I don't live in LA, but if necessary, I would.

Q: What's next? Are you working on a new script?

A: I'm currently working on a rom-com.
