Objective
The Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting is a vital program that identifies and nurtures talented emerging screenwriters.The program will now exclusively partner with global university programs, screenwriting labs and filmmaker programs to identify potential Nicholl fellows.
Each partner will vet and submit scripts for consideration for an Academy Nicholl Fellowship, and the Black List will serve as a portal for public submissions.
All scripts submitted by partners will be read and reviewed by Academy members.

The 1999 Nicholl Fellowships
The 1999 Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting application is now available
to be printed at --
http://www.oscars.org/nicholl
Hard copies of the form will be sent to everyone who entered last year's competition.
Up to five $25,000 fellowships will be available to new screenwriters in
1999. Since the Nicholl program's inception in 1986, the Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences has awarded $1.3 million in fellowships. Past
winners include Max Adams, Allison Anders, Radha Bharadwaj, Raymond De
Felitta, Myron Goble, Susannah Grant, Ehren Kruger, Mark Lowenthal, Andrew
Marlowe, Randy McCormick and Jim McGlynn.
Deadline is postmarked by May 1. Entry fee is $30. A complete entry
includes an original, non-collaborative feature film screenplay, an
application form and the fee.
