Cynosure Announces 2000 Screenwriting Awards

BroadMind Entertainment is proud to announce Lisanne Sartor and Paula Neiman as the winners of the second annual Cynosure Screenwriting Awards, a contest which offers two $1500 cash awards to outstanding screenplays showcasing female and minority protagonists.

In the minority protagonist category, Paula Neiman placed first with her dramatic script, “The Pawn,” about a career hitman who goes straight for the sake of his son, only to be lured into one last hit that threatens to destroy his new life. A native of Los Angeles, Paula is currently working on her fifth screenplay and her first stage play, and is preparing to shoot her first short film.

Lisanne Sartor placed first in the female protagonist category with her fantasy script, “Night Blooming Jasmine,” about a reclusive, mentally-impaired woman who -- with the help of her collection of magical dolls -- heals the relationship between her social worker and his estranged son. A recent graduate of the UCLA Screenwriting Masters Program, Lisanne grew up in New Jersey. Before becoming a writer, she spent six years working as an assistant director in film and television.

The Cynosure Awards were established in 1998 to encourage screenwriters to create more dynamic roles for women and minorities through stories that reflect both the diversity and universality of the human experience.
