Vail Fest Names Screenplay Winners

Andrew Kightlinger's Tater Tot & Patton has been named the winner of the 2015 Vail Film Festival Screenplay Competition. Stan Rodman's Rule of Law won the Short Screenplay Competition. The 1st place Feature and Shorts winners will have a reading of their scripts at the 12th Annual Vail Film Festival, March 26th - 29th.

Feature

1st Place: Tater Tot & Patton
Writer: Andrew Kightlinger
Description: Amid a long hot summer, a frustrated millennial is sent to her bullheaded uncle’s South Dakota ranch and both prove to be the exact medicine the other one needed.

2nd Place: The Third Bomb
Writer: Phillip Parker
Description: In the final days of WWII, when a top U.S. pilot crash lands in Japanese territory, he must stop an ambitious Japanese commander from capturing his secret cargo - the third atomic bomb.

3rd Place: Reckless Hearts
Writer: Corey Bodoh-Creed
Description: In a near future where guns have been outlawed, the son of the sheriff in a small Montana town finds himself torn between warring factions when he falls for the daughter of a dangerous militia leader.

Short

1st Place: Rule of Law
Writer: Stan Rodman
Description: A public defender, an assistant district attorney, a seasoned judge and a violent defendant all cross paths when a young girl is viciously attacked and killed. Each has conflicting views of both justice and the rule of law, upon which this country's legal system was founded upon. Ultimately, the conclusion is most likely popular, and undermines the very foundation of our society.

2nd Place: Something To Regret In The Morning
Writer: Philip T Brewster
Description: Harry Drake, gumshoe for hire, gets a call from Montague 'Mack' Mackintosh upset over the number of dead bodies stacking in his yard. Someone has slaughtered half of his gnomes! Convinced it's an inside job Drake wants to know more before he points his finger, but is totally unprepared as to the reason why...

3rd Place: All Things Chicken
Writer: Julius Galacki
Description: A comedy-drama about how NOT to live one's life, yet also a paean to the saving grace of friendship - no matter how dysfunctional.
